I have two friends (ex-co-workers) who caught their wives cheating by sniffing out their wives yahoo passwords.

What about workers reading yahoo mail from work?

I know one person got fired at my clients company for reading p0rn from a mail account at yahoo.com.

I think this great, but what do corporations feel? It sounds like more work for me with the adding insult of snooping on co-workers.

Exactly what do you want to encourage?

Most of my Micro$oft users have no understanding of files and folders let alone permissions. Frequently I have to 'find' a file they've misplaced by savin' to C:\.

If your users are mostly application based, then everything should be self-evident. A word processor is a word processor. Sure they're a bit different but basically they are the same.

If you're trying to teach the guts of Linux, why not use the newbie help files?

    I admitted it.

I was recently in the market to buy a personal recorder. I reviewed both replaytv and tivo. I liked TIVO a lot and it wasn't just because it got such /. attention.

I had only one concern when I was buying. which company, replaytv or tivo, had staying power. I looked at both and thought...heck, if TIVO goes down, there'll be a large underground hack community...

So I bought a TIVO just two weeks ago...

    I win!

No, I was with CowboyNeal at a gay bar.

I like to read the articles before posting. Unfortunately it's something I rarely get to do because of the herd affect of /.

  6. Get real! on Playstation 2 Basic? · · Score: 1

I, too, come from the trash 80 days, but what sony is doing doesn't compare. Sony's just releasing basic, they aren't giving the source code of their games out. Back in the trash 80 days, half the fun of playing games was playing them and then hacking them when you got stuck. I learned most of my coding by hacking other basic programs. Sony's not like the open source communite. I can't just go to a prompt and meander through their source code to get around a problem.

what will make this interesting is if a PS2 hacks/programs user group gets formed out of this BASIC release. It might get kids interested in coding. Heck I might, finally, be able to convice by wife to let me get one! I'm coding, dear, really! It was worth every penny I spent on Ebay, dear... ;)

I moved over a year ago and they never changed my billing phone number. They cut service to my new home because of nonpayment, though I was paying, six months ago. They got my service back up after a week and I forgive them for their clerical error. Mistake, 'cause it happened again just three weeks ago! I was down for a week again. Here's the process: you call to complain, they don't know what to do so they transfer you, an hour later (and many transfers) you're told that the problem will be fixed in 24hrs, and last repeat the next day. If you can get a different provider, I would.
