  1. I like the idea of using my iPhone for days at a time between charges. Heck, maybe would provide enough battery for a useful iPhone/GPS unit.

    While initially it may go down with any news of him leaving Apple, I think the talent pool they have is great.

    Whoever should succeed Jobs should be very aware of this talent pool and be sure to keep things running as smoothly as possible to ensure a bright future. In essence I wouldn't be too worried about Apple being Jobs-less.

    As a grad student in the CUNY (City Univ of NY) system this will hit me and my fellow students hard. Patterson wants to tax not only music downloads but also simple things such as soda, movie tickets and even wants to increase my tuition!

    While I can only speculate, let's see here...
    College costs more, tax on music downloads and tax on movie tickets. With FiOS being more widely available here I can just see an increase in downloading music/movies via torrent sites.

    I don't know how I'd feel about EMW's strong enough to power laptops, lightbulbs, etc passing through me constantly. I'd feel as if I was in a microwave oven...

    OS-nogstic? :) I too use OS X at home and am certainly not a "fanboy" either. I too use Windows at work and have several virtual machines on my Mac (nature of the beast for my grad work). I agree with you regarding the difficulty in virus writing for the MacOS platform vs trojans. Unfortunately, there's more dumb people than darwinism can efficiently select out.

    It does sound like a possible "setup". Macworld 2009 debuts new AV software? Who knows. Maybe the Mac has starting to reach that point where virus writers and security aficionados have enough a base to target their efforts? After all, Mac does seem to be gaining market share year by year.

    Wow, where do you get 5 weeks? 2 weeks is standard in the US unless you have seniority. For example at the law firm I work for you get 2 weeks your first year, 3 weeks the next and 4 weeks every year after that. you CAN get 5 weeks, but only after 20yrs with the firm. Although I used to work at the UN, they had 6 weeks standard for all their staff members, even had Paternity Leave. No wonder the world is messed up, no one works! :)

    Federal Agent? Whether it be FBI, NSA, DEA, DHS etc. They need 'nerdy' people. Jobs in hot areas for them are Forensic Computing, Forensic Accounting, etc. I sure there are more but those require a math/analytical mind. Plus there's potential to shoot someone...
