SSD's are more about speed than capacity at the moment, i make it about £2000/TB for current SSD's which can read/write at 250+MB/s, i cant see any rates given in TFA, but ive 100x shorter to write means even a further 10x in read/write rates, then you will again be paying for speed over capacity, and it will be this way for a long time yet
using a webcam you can get a picture, using the internet on a mobile you can get information, the technology has been there for ages to be able to get as much extra information as you want about whatever is in front of the camera, the only limiting factor is surely the software needed to be writen to identify items and then collect the appropriate information from the internet. This doesnt seem much different to saying that with a webcam and a mobile, you can identify them and pull up their facebook profile, software to take advantage of available hardware has become alot more complex to write
i dont see that 3 distinct voltages is hard, because you could have 0, and +/-x, aslong as the circuit is ok with voltages of both signs, good for capacitorsm resistors, not good for diodes, i dont know enough about computer circuitry to know how often components of any particular type are used
this doesnt seem too hard to me, if its all done by magnetic polarisation, why would it be hard to have -1,0, and +1, afaik binary was first used to ensure no ambiguity in the state of some electronic component, it was either on or off, since we have advanced, what is it that stops us from moving to trits, other than the ingrained use of bis, is there some technological issue that makes it impractical?
at what point does a stone that happens to have been eroded/chipped naturally into the rough shape of an axe-head become a stone that has been intentionally crafted by (pre)human hands. How likely is it that these things are a case of seeing things because we want to, c.f the face in the rocks on mars
i would imagine a 2TB 3.5" drive is not 256* the volume of that, and so is bigger, however you might want to have a look at 32GB SDHC card for high density storage
ive never had a mac so i wouldnt know for sure, but i would assume that OSX or leopard or whatever its called bundles something, itunes and safari maybe? if i am right then surely for fairness such rulings should apply to them aswell and to linux as the market share for both are slowly climbing
what if they re-funded the cost of an OEM version of vista to everyone, and provided a free downgrade to XP, or up to 7, im sure that would cost less than $400 per PC, and seems an especially more practical alternative to upgrading the laptops.
considering the value of a new laptop with 1GB ram and an aero-capable intel chipset these days, i wonder how many people would bother to get it changed once you factor in the hassle of sending off your laptop, waiting on the new one, setting it up, transfering the data etc...
its reasonable to hold microsoft accountable for what is clearly misleading, but retailers/manufacturers are equally responsible for putting the sticker on if they knew their hardware couldnt run it acceptabley, even if MS said it would.
if they let through enough adds to be comparable to commercial radio, then they will lose one of their attractions, and people will move onto competition, or back to commercial radio
being realistic, would you honestly rather loose pandora/lastfm/yourinternetradioofchoice rather than hear some adverts, if they are in a scenario that they arnt making enough money, and the choices are ads, fees, or closing, id choose ads every time
Its not really pandoras fault in this case, if you go to their home page.
"We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative."
plus there are plenty of alternatives that do work, i use lastfm in the uk, works ace
or go for the premium service. I dont know how pandora works exactly (im in the uk), but lastfm has a premium service, i assume if last fm were to ever resort to adverts, they would offer a premium service without them, and if more people were to take up the premium service before such a time, they are less likely to need to add ads to the free service
isnt that invasive, on seeing 'invasive' i imagined comming in in the middle of a song, the title is poorly worded. Plus id much rather hear a few adverts than pay money, ideally neither, but if high royalties means one advert per ten songs (15s advert per 10 2.5min songs is only one 1% advert time) then id rather that than have it disapear.
However, If its the same advert over and over, that will get tedious, ive played a few free versions of games that have been ad sponsored, and to have the same advert over and over is just annoying.
so how often are these cold boot attacks actually performed in a hostile situation (as opposed to under controled conditions for demonstration, or to legitimately recover lost passwords or whatever)
this was meant to be a reply to the 'Nano Tubes?!?!?!' thread

why on earth is this tagged ubuntu, it has nothing in common with it other than the coincidence of the name
ah yes, it would have helped if i had read the ramscoop wiki rather than reading the name and guessing what it meant
what with how sparse the ISM is, i cant personally see that that would be workable
if you dont play games but want to run quake?

this must surely come with a new definition of what is vista capable. so what is it? which chipsets count as vista capable now?

that depends if the pornography falls under the entirely arbitrary, subjective category of obscene
that 'ey' was meant to have a strikethrough
