Does every review end up being a 7 or 8 lately? Where are the really great books or really bad books? Or is the Book Review going to turn into here is the latest above average book we have reviewed
The final $70 can easily be made up by extras to phone service like voice mail, caller id, etc. Add in long distance and you can make up the final $70 dollars easy.
Where the real money will come from is by attempting to replace Blockbuster or your local video rental store. If they can charge $5 dollars per movie and the average family views 5 moview per month - there is an easy $25 dollars. Not much money - but over thousands of households - not hard to ignore.
It may not be on. Bush is speaking at 8pm and is expected to talk around 20-25 minutes. Who knows what the news will do afterwards? (At least for those on the east coast)
Disclosure of Server Protocols- The Final Judgment also ensures that other non-Microsoft server software can interoperate with Windows on a PC the same way that Microsoft servers do. This is important because it ensures that Microsoft cannot use its PC operating system monopoly to restrict competition among servers. Server support applications, like middleware, could threaten Microsoft's monopoly.
It doesn't say license at all. But it also doesn't give disclosure rules. I'm sure this will get spelled out more clearly in the actually settlement document.
If you are serious - send a thank you letter for letting you interview. During the letter point out your strong points about you (or from your interview).
It shows you are serious and when all things seem equal in a pool that size - the extra recognition can put you ahead.
So trying to get customer loyalty is a bad thing? Because that is the purpose of the discount cards. While the cards do profile you - how do you expect to get customers to keep coming to your store if you can't track them?
Me thinks the WIN32 API has changed some rules. From MSDN page about Create Pipe:
Windows NT/2000 and later: Anonymous pipes are implemented using a named pipe with a unique name. Therefore, you can often pass a handle to an anonymous pipe to a function that requires a handle to a named pipe.
The content is not being changed. A popup window is being displayed to show a competitor at the same time as the content you wish to see is being displayed. Sleazy yes. Illegal no.
I really wish these weren't called laws but rather they were called suggestions. Because now any robot (or movie) that doesn't conform to the "laws" gets criticized and tossed off without merit. How many/. posts have been out there saying A.I. sucked because the robots didn't follow Asimov's laws.
The general theme of the movie was how can a robot be created to act like a little boy. Human nature and being human (unfortunately) can occasionally contradict the rules above.
But think about it - did David knowly harm anyone? At the time the harmful actions were performed - he didn't realize his actions were harmful. Which reflected the intelligence of a little boy.
Train problem: A map would point out that your path was on the train track. Problem solved. (Unless you drive on the track, in which the rental car company may have issues with.)
If you are hit from behind hard enough to end up speeding by a cop - I'm sure the cop can fill out the report to say you were not speeding because an accident report would need to be filled out.
I love when people don't read the article and post. From page 2 of the article:
What other kinds of search are you developing?
We have a voice-search project with BMW -- BMW wants to put voice search into their 7 Series cars. They want to put microphones in the cars -- you can just speak whatever your search is and then it gives you answers back on a display. Then you just say the result number and the search jumps to that result.
I would like to see 2 (or 3) new benchmarks added:
Apache repsonse time. Have some scripts and or servlets which are more processor intensive than bandwidth intensive. They do exists.
MySQL (or appropriate) - Are the processors available so fast as compared to disk I/O that we could see improvements over different chips in equivalent systems?
Sorry. The GPL is viral and a clever choice of words for the spinmasters at Microsoft. Watch out for jabs like this in the future. They will say the correct thing but use charged words to sway the debate. A very good tactic.
Microsoft is entirely correct to say the GLP is viral because all derived works must also have the code to given away - so the orignal code infects any following work. Whether this is good or bad is left to the debate that is occurring now.
Because it would be the US taxpayers funding a millionaires vacation. The space station / shuttle / and all other costs related costs way more than 20 million than one tourist has paid. Lets say the cost for one year of the shuttle and space station is: 1 billion dollars. That would mean 50 tourists would need to go up in that year to break even if every tourist cost 20 million. Getting 50 people up there is no minor feat in one year as well as the extra costs for all the extra flights.
And the added bonus is only the richest 0.01% of the US would be able to even afford such a vaction.
Because AOL is
working with Dell to get AOL into every classroom in Pennsylvania at "no expense" to the school. By buying a DELL computer - the school gets a version of AOL for the classroom for "free".

Just like cigarettes, get 'em hooked (on AOL) while young and those who do don't know better will stay hooked.

The schema change is the biggest drawback. Adding to columns to a database is "simple". Adding fields to an object is not so simple. (OK it is simple, its the recompiling and ensuring all objects are correctly serialized etc is the pain).
Adding columns and design changes are fact of life. Until it is as easy and safe as relational - OODBMS apps will definitely be widespread.
When OODBMS store their data in an XML document style format is when OOBMS will take off since the dtd can be written with versions in mind and older objects can still be understood with relative ease.
The ship may be soverign but it is not its own country. It belongs to the US and is governed by the laws of the US and have all the priveledges the US has under International law and treaties.

I got memory from them with no problems. They also carry a lot of other crap too.

But they find out what went wrong on version 1 and dominate in later versions.
Article about it on CNN

The only problem is the hijackers would not have been in the database yet.

Now we are venturing into the world of rediculous. Why would I rent a car just to place it in a trailer? Isn't that counter productive?

Maybe he's talking about the Dubya the elder ... Also there are still a lot of judges left fomr the Reagan days too...
Even out of the scope of a car - this feature would be awesome if it were integrated with cable (or satellite) and the TV room
Get me Gilligan's Island ... Click
Slashdot already talked about this. (Actually the link is stating that 3.0 is rumored to be released soon)
So begin and end the flight in a different country.
Of course, what about the hotel flying/hovering "above the US". At what height does jurisdiction end?

A combination of the first 2
