  4. Ukraine, "previously" held control of Russia's only viable winter port for the Russian fleet. The US's intervention in forcing a government change to a pro west/anti Russian government meant Russia was at risk of losing access to a vital military facility as well as have a close friendly neighbour suddenly become a NATO stronghold, wrongly or rightly Russia still view NATO with a great deal of suspicion if not as an outright enemy. If that isn't backing him into a corner and prodding the bear with a massive cattle prod then I don't know what is. It would be the equivalent of mexico and Canada suddenly becoming communist north Korean and expecting the US would not react.

There is Vladivastok on pacific, so warm water port argument is void. And If US would attack Mexico or Canada it would be equally not right. You are speaking about Ukraine as their people and their will is unimportant. I hope that You will never be in a "strategic cannon fodder" possition - it is not very good place to be.

Ebola mortality rate between 50% and 90%. Usual flu epidemic mortality rate of 0.1%. 1918 flu outbreak had up to 20% mortality. So adding Ebola with increased mobility of humans and dense population, pardon my French, there would be barely anyone for wiping shit from pavements in New York if it flies to land of free...

I had minimal expreince with Chineese and electronic devie samples (the thing that must be polished as best as you can to get contract) had some problems like reversed diodes. Chineese can and make superb things, but you must come with your own process to them. Don't allow them to make mistakes, mark everything step by step, provide quality assurance tests and so on... and then your're going to have as good product as from Germany. But if You are small niche player with good margins better to work with western partners, because they suggest you expertise where you don't have it and you can spend more time to R&D your device. So simple flow chart: are you telling your empleyees "we want more be like Apple"? Yes - go east. No-go west.

Doesn't look like that to me, to be honest. They have voted for Kuchma for two times. Then they have ousted Yanukovich in 2008 and voted for Yushenko, but gave Yushenko only 5% of their votes in 2012, chosing Yanukovich instead (in free and fair elections by the way). Then they ousted Yanukovich again without waiting for real elections.

I personally think, Ukrainians don't really know what they want and they don't really want democracy when they have Maidan. They have inherited the best agriculture and the best industry from the USSR and what have they done with it? Absolutely nothing. For fuck's sake, even Belarus has twice the GDP per capita PPP. Even worse, Kosovo of all countries is better off.

And what is definition of democracy in your vocabulary? Political instability is usual in young democracies. And Russian influence doesn't help. That poor GDP is also why people went into the streets. P.S.: I'm Lithuanian and had heard a lot of times from Russian representatives that we were left with best industry and agriculture from USSR and as a consequence own something to USSR (ehem Russia) - make Your own conclussions.

Yes Crimea is pro Russian, but there is Budapest memorandum and a lot international law which prohibits Russia's actions in Crimea. And no propoganda can justify referendums at gun point of one of involved side. And don't even start about Yugoslavia and double standards (heard a lot about this from Russia) no western power after splitting Yugoslavia had territory gains - no anexation happened. Excuses about fashism and radicalls possing threat are nonsense because I have not heard about ethnic violence in Crymea. In my opinion current Ukraine govenrment is very tolerand and desperatelly tries to evade conficts - Ghandi would tap them on the shoulder for their actions. Russia are installing another frozen conflict (Trans-Dnestria, Osethia and South-Georgia) to destabilize region, because they just don't want or understand how to deal international relations in partnership and not slave-master fashion. I hope one day Russia will split into fistful of independend states to loose power and imperial ambitions. I hope for peace, but Russia must change drastically. And it is hard to achieve democracy in a country which has never had free citizens and all their leaders are either drunks or despots. Personally I prefer drunks - at least their ambitions are obvious. P.S.: I always enjoy the fact that during turmoil Russians blame America, but meantime runs to buy USA dollars to be safe.

You're thinking of seed AI: A program capable of self improvement. The better it gets, the better it can make itsself, which means it can thus get even better. A positive feedback loop that potentially leads to something far beyond human capabilities or understanding.

Watson isn't that. It can answer questions, but it has no ability to comprehend complex problems, and it certainly cannot devise novel solutions. It is essentially a highly sophisticated knowledge-based search engine. Perhaps one of Watson's successors, in a few decades.

Opamp circuit 101: Positive feedback loop usually gets an oscillator. Watson is electronic, isn't it?..

We came to this compromise also. We have two logs: internal and external. Every change is included into detailed internal log which is very useful for programmers and support team and customers get softened (theres no need to panic) log. Of course if our client found bug and interested into details we would provide those.
