  1. Eh on Video Game Trends In 2008 · · Score: 2, Interesting

The video game industry lost me a while ago... all I play now is old SNES games (emulated, of course), Guitar Hero, and a few open-source strategy games.

Lower prices on the consoles does a lot for me. 400 bucks is hard to justify for an entertainment, when that's a semester's worth of books... :\

50 bucks is a lot easier to justify.

  2. Re:...What? on What Restrictions Should Student Laptops Have? · · Score: 1

As a matter of fact, I did.

For all but the first two weeks of my senior year of high school, I kept my laptop with me at all times at school, and used linux programs to do fun things in my drafting class, like animation of house buildings. It was a 17" laptop, and I arrived early and left late; I carried 8 pounds around for the whole school day.

Then again, I did get used to carrying 50 pounds on one shoulder for 3 hours at a time...

I just finished reading Watchmen last night (And I must say, it was amazing and I wanna see the damn movie now!)

I've been slowly working my way through V for Vendetta, too.

I honestly don't care what country something is from. As far as graphic novels/comics/manga go, I like the story and the art style. It's nothing that is uniquely Japanese that draws me to read certain manga, it's the plot, the character development...

I gotta admit, that was hilarious.

I love survival horror games. Fatal Frame is amazing, although I can't play it long...

Same with Silent Hill 3. The Silent Hill games are a masterpiece, much more than Resident Evil. There's a *great* story, a theme, creative monsters, the environments are beautiful.

Actually, since I'm an economics major, I want to have a paper on this exact topic at some point:

All these programs, like health care, welfare (when used PROPERLY), education (up to and include university), have a HUGE economic impact on the US.

If we get the kind of return prison rehab programs get (1.70-3.50 dollars saved for every dollar spent), then we can VERY easily regain our edge by just investing PROPERLY in education.

We don't invest properly in education, i know, bizarre concept!
