Open source tends to be more of, what do I want to add or what requests am I getting for features. Also what bugs are people complaining most about. In open source once the product goes from 'beta to live/GA', bug fixes are usually security related or end up in the next major release.
Proprietary software tends to have requirements of what bugs they MUST fix. In this case once the product goes 'live/GA' users can request bugs to be fixed AFTER 'live/GA'. Not just security issues either. We usually do a few maintainence fixes, after GA because of what our users require us to do.
I also think that there is a QA issue in open source. Open source does not usually have a QA department, it has a beta period for people to find bugs. Proprietary software almost ALWAYS has a QA department or QA period where stuff is tested over and over for bugs and then these bugs are fixed.
less than two years ago one of my sisters was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today I just discovered my other sister has breast cancer. It's spread to her bones, so the doctors are treating her with chemo. She's 47!
So what's the #xxxxxx code for pink or do we just use 'pink' ( which is kinda dark ).
What else can we do?
BTW: guys, get your selves checked for prostate cancer!
typically a company bills 2 to 3 times more. So if you are making $50/hour, then the company would bill $150/hour. This is to cover overhead, ( assuming you are an employee ), of paying you benifits, workmans comp, and all the other expenses that go along with running a business and having employees.
... space elevator once.. wasn't it called the 'tower of babel'? LOL.. see this is what happens when you have a bunch of religious nuts in office.. they start tring to build a ladder to heaven..
Go ahead and mod this down, I don't give a f*** any more!
all group are now under this new government microscope and totally screwed....
I wonder if anyone has thought about what might happen if another party gets control of government or the republicans decide to go the nazi route and start hunting down people. Yeah it seems like it is way out there, but the nazi's spread the 'fear of the jews' in people, the republicans are spreading the 'fear of liberalism and gays'...
.. of back pain related to sitting on my butt all day...
Here are a few things you can do to prevent such back pain. First, take up walking. At least 1 mile a day. This helps because the muscles in your legs attach to your back and help stretch it out. Not sure of the mechanincs, I just know it helps me. Second, get up, off your butt at least 1 time each hour. This will a little. Funky chairs help some, but the real issue is sitting for long periods of time. Third, take up an exercise routine. Focus on your whole back. Yoga actually helps, as there are some yoga postions that are will help take pressure off your back. Search for the 'Z-position yoga', its basically a chair position, only horizontal. Lastly, get an ergonomic setup at work and practice how you sit at your computer chair. Only practice will train you. Yes the program that you mention may help you get into the proper position, but you need to practice it and be conscious about how you are sitting. Hope this helps.
.. you don't need to have another one, unless the first one breaks. Its like TV's. You go out, buy a TV. For most people the next time they buy a TV is when their TV breaks. My TV's have lasted about 10+ years. I'd imagine that the iPod should last at least 3 years.
It would start with the fact that 6 years ago, my cable bill was 60 USD a month for FULL cable ( HBO, Showtime, TMC, Stars and all the premium channels ). My cable bill is no 106 USD and I dropped all that except HBO and Showtime. It is digital cable, and now I get less, but pay more! This is a 100% increase in 5 years ( if I kept everything it would be about 120 USD ).
How can a company that does that be trusted with anything else?
Actually that 2x still applies in certain cases. For windows that space can be used to dump the contents of memory to disk with debugging information. Essentially this creates almost a 'system core' file that someone could debug. For most desktops we don't care about that nor would we ever do that. One could nowadays use a 4Gig desktop and not use swap unless they were doing virtualization.
I think you are the one that needs education, from wikipedia "Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited, bulk messages."
From the article "Bombarding your ex-employer with five million spam emails sounds like a criminal offence worthy of harsh punishment -- the electric chair perhaps? But yesterday the 'Boy Spammer' David Lennon, who was 16 when he electronically snubbed his former bosses, has been told by a judge that as punishment for his crimes he can't leave his house between the hours of 12.30am and 7am on weekdays, and between 12.30am and 10am on weekends, for two months."
I'd say ( and so did the article ) that this is abuse of electionic messaging, it is sending unsolicited email, and in some sense it could be considered bulk. Which part of this definition do you not understand? I guess you are just to ignant.
.. a 16 year old can be sentanced to death or life in prison, they I think that a 16 year old can be sentanced to what an adult spammer would be sentanced to... staying in his room with his video games and probably a computer is not really a punishment, considering that's probably where he sent all the spam from in the first place...
If my house burns down, I think the last thing I am going to be worring about is my 2 gig backup. I'd be more concerned about food and money and clothes.
So if someone invents something and starts using it, and then someone else takes that idea and patents it, doesn't that then make the second person first to file?
Then the second person gets the patent, and sues the first person and the actual inventor is screwed.
Hmm, then Amazon would really have screwed everyone with its one click patent. I'd bet big corporations are really into this.
Sure you can get a bigger house and stuff, but what about the 'quality' of living. I like the restaurants in bigger cities personally. That and the fact that there are more jobs AFAIK.
.. you have been to a physical therapist. My physical therapist used electricity on my shoulder to help it heal up some. I think she said it was supposed to stimulate something.. actually it just tingled and felt weird, but now I no longer have shoulder problems....
.. they wont pass stricter regulation on fuel consumption. My 1973 VB bug that I used to won got 20ish mpg. My 2003 Corola gets about 25-30mpg. Slighly better, but SUV's usually get 12-20 mpg. Congress had an opportunity to pass legislatio to make a requirement that SUV's become more fuel efficient, yet they declined to do so. Why is it they are willing to pass legislation about computer servers, when cars and SUV's are just as bad?
We need a change in government. I say fire them all, and start all over!

I'd also add, if you compete in a sales cycle and the competor has a better UI than you, it could cost you the deal.
Clients want an effective UI, and bad UI design is usually ineffective as well. It could make using the product more problematic.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see why anyone would really need to have that storage online at MS or Google. Email maybe, but not data.
I want to know how so many idiots get out of bed each morning?
I've got a 4000 and it does 640x480 at about 30fps.
Sony, just full of baloney... ( not the one an only LOL )
There seemed to be more lime at Linuxworld.

My phone will automatically send the photo to my online account. I'd circulate it around the internet pretty quickly.
inovation stifiling.
