Racketeering means that the scammers would have murdered the victim - or at least inflicted bodily harm - but they didn't, and I highly doubt they would have.
I'd say that this (being a scam) should be categorized with fake antivirus programs and the like. This one is just particularly expensive.
Now, what that implies is up to you all - I would argue that it's the victim's fault and the government should not be involved, except for perhaps a judge in a civil court rather than a criminal one.
While some people are exactly as you describe them, some people (like myself) prefer organic stuff because it tastes better, simple as that. Doesn't mean I WON'T eat non-organic stuff, but given the choice I prefer organic carrots, for example. Maybe smaller, but far tastier. YMMV of course.
It also means "acting suspiciously" becomes common grounds for a stop and search by the police. And since "acting suspiciously" is such an incredibly vague concept, it means pretty much anyone can be stopped and searched by the police whenever they feel like it, "Hmm, most people act guilty when the police are around - the fact that you're not acting guilty is highly suspicious..."
Dear sir: I would mod you up as much as I could if I had points. Unfortunately I don't D:
AMD/ATI is better, AMD always has been and ATI has been kicking ass with their 5000 series cards. Unless you're going for absolute, price is not an issue performance, then AMD has intel soundly beaten.
The point isn't about replacing the battery because of wear (though that is a plus, and the fact that you don't have to unscrew the whole damn backplate to get at it), it's about carrying a 6 pack of batteries when you're going on a mission and swapping them as needed.
I know of no way sites can do any damage with a good browser (opera personally, but chrome and I guess firefox), at least not as far as installing malware. Gone are the days of ActiveX bullshittery (for most technical people)
No military should be considered superheroes. They just glorify violence and legalized murder.

More of a stupid tax than a scam, really.
Portability and battery life are the SELLING POINTS of netbooks. The pricing is more than fair.

If slashdot didn't have a shitty search feature, maybe mods could find reposts easier. Just sayin.
I grow my own stuff, so yeah it's probably better - hanging pots helps keeps pests away and other than that I'm just lucky I suppose.
No way those specs cost 700 before discount unless intel is even worse in price/performance vs AMD than I had ever thought.

You sound like a little goddamn kid. Shut the fuck up.
Yes, the extra workload that doesn't bring in any extra money. Good luck with that theory.
Do you mean 4096 CPU cores and 848 actual CPUs?
IE 9 still can't pass Acid3.

That should be e.g., not i.e.

Opera wasn't included, but I'm very curious as to how good their private mode is.
Seriously, who would possibly think that moving that many plex in one go is a good idea?
Nope, a recent update changed them so that you can undock with them in your cargo.
So far my verizon plan is unlimited

It's not a bug, it's a feature!
Your spam on every post is getting rather annoying.
