Come on, we get these announcements every few weeks, but nobody ever delivers a product. This isn't even news for nerds, it is just vaporware. Wake me up when they create a product that I can actually buy.

  2. I agree on Fran Allen Wins Turing Award · · Score: 1

She was the first person to realise you could use computers for other things than computing mathematical formulas, and that it should be programmable in a language resembling english. To realize that in that time must have taken an insane amount of insight. Many advances come from seeing a problem, and solving it. But she didn't really have problem to see! Everybody else thought she was crazy, that it could never be done. Computers performed mathematical calculations and were programmed using assembly or machine code! Where did she get those ideas?

In addition failures in the first 6 months are assumed to be production faults unless the manufacturer can prove otherwise. 10. Quality on Dell Selling 30" Flat Panels · · Score: 1

The reason is quality. For the same price, the higher the resolution for a given surface, the lower the quality. Every laptop LCD looks like junk compared to my apple 20" cinema display (at work) or the equivalent dell LCD (at home). The compromise is accepted for laptops, but nobody would buy a higher-res with low quality, or a high quality model that is almost as expensive as a bigger monitor with the same resolution.

That is because your mind plays tricks with you. In this case, the image you see outside contained more red than other colors. Your mind will compensate for this by adding the opposite color (on the color wheel) to the image. For red, the opposite color is green. Here's a link that contains much information about this.
