Perhaps insurance is different in different places but I don't get an insurance surcharge unless it is a "Moving violation." Ie (speeding, running a red light, wreckless driving, etc...)
We have become mildly successful at populating the earth before it will be destroyed. Next step get into the Universe. If we can do pretty good at populating that before it is destroyed we can look into more continuation options such as dimensional travel, time travel, or perhaps something so strange it hasn't been even imagined yet.
My biggest problem with wow questing and leveling is it has no greater effect on the rest of the world. I do a quest to help rebuild a bridge and 20 levels later I run through that area and the bridge is still busted.
Basically WOW is little more than a single player game with other people running around. Unless those other people talk to you or challange you in some way there is nothing else that they do that affects you.
At a minimum I'd like to see a real horde vs alliance power shift over time. But really I'd like to see quests that I do have an effect on the rest of the game. I know it would be hard, but with the amount of money that is in this it shouldn't be too much to have developers that can create on the fly questing. Real game world affecting problems that need to be solved and a more dynamic world in general. Why are miners digging the same hole for months and getting no where?
Just out of curiosity what would you consider security not through obscurity? Only one I can think of is living breathing security guards. Everything else is just a matter of obscuring the way to get into something.
You have a very skewed view of America and the US specifically. Most of what you read over seas is way blown over hyperbole of small isolated events. Many mistakes that have gotten more coverage than they deserve. I have been screwed over by the government directly yet don't hold this kind of contempt for them.
Although I've never been a big TV blamer in the past I did hear one convening argument that covers this type of thing. People have become so used to problems cropping up and being solved in a 1 hour show, that longer term, real projects like this, budget balances, war, etc... always seem to be run badly. If Rambo can run in save all the hostages kill off the bad guys and be home for dinner in 2 a hour movie why can't Iraq be settled and back up in running as it's own safe, secure little country. When SciFi was new it was inspiring. Now that it is so common place people are use to watching Star Trek people in space and wonder why the hell the space station is so difficult.
Everybody is affected by this as a whole. Public perception is a lot diffrent than personal understanding.
You could say that about pretty much all energy. The Sun is really the onlything around that is actually produceing energy, and even that is still a reaction of stored energy.
The days of the static content consoles are over my friend. If it doesn't show up it is because oblivion is past it's prime. There is no technical reason for it to not get them. Same as my xbox360 version has lots of updates and mods.
You're a bit wrong on this. The problem and advantage of oil is that it is already stored energy in huge reservoirs underground. Biofuel on the other hand uses carbon, solar, and greenhouse gases in its creation. then releases them again when burned for a net impact of near 0.
Actually it would be. Due to the fact that you, or more precisely the sugarcane plants have to pull carbon out of the air for them to make this you end up with a close to net 0 impact.
The reason Oil is so bad is because instead of pulling the excess carbon out of the air we are pulling it out of the ground and pumping it into the air. net impact is closer to 100%
They tested this on mythbusters and while, sure the finger was destroyed it also did cause significant damage to the gun. Perhaps just enough to stop this volcano.
How do you figured? Really a 64M card being sold at $50 or whatever comes out to something like $45 profit. they could sell a 2G card at $100 and still have that same if not more than $45 profit and the user would actually benefit from it. Ohh yea, I forgot, never mind.
Yep, and you also have 2 weeks for a no questions asked return. I got a might mouse 3 button wired mouse 10 days before the wireless version came out. I took it in and just said I'd like to exchange this for a wireless version they happily did it.
No, no. I as a good slashdotter only agree with highly moderated posts. I only laugh at +5 funnies, and I frown at all -1 posts for the evil that they are.
It was Return of the Jedi of which you speak and also another part of why you can never trust media. In the movie they showed only the few lucky successes that the Ewoks had and didn't show the massive slaughtering that they actually took.

either way ((colonize the galaxy or stay on earth) and become extinct)
eventually the universe will crumble. Either from the big crunch or reduction to nothing from continual expansion.

Exactly!!

How about replace the radiator in my car with a steam engine/steam water reclamation device?

I hope this got a few insightful mods because this is the most insightful sarcastic/mocking I think I've ever seen.

Yea right, I only read slashdot because of the chicks.
Nuke the volcano from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Yea I tried but like most women, mine wont even talk to me. I try to say something and she just stares blankly at the wall.
Ohh well.
C what happens when you know more than the teacher...

Of which, both would be reported and forgotten about much the same way this is.

Why are the memory cards only 64M? can't they use standard flash which you can get up to 2G rather easily?
