Yes, so far I've been very unimpressed by Macintosh and OSX. If you don't run a stricly Mac app it is slow as hell. With my ubuntu desktop I can't usually tell the diffrenct betweenn remote and local apps. They are all very fast. On OSX remote apps are painfully slow.
Opposite is true for me. I've only ever used the Gimp for image stuff and when I try photo shop I stuble and fall and can't seem to get anything I'm tring to do done.
I'm sure they'll also come up with some game where you have to shoot squares faster than your opponent, an air hockey game that doesn't work as well as the others and of course I'm sure they'll come up with a metroid prime version for this console.
Another thing I thought sounded cool was the ability to cat/home/foo/music/some.mp3/raw >/dev/dsp and the mp3 would just play by using a plugin that ran it through an mp3 library. This would allow application developers to just access file/raw rather than worrying about file types and conversions.
If I'm writing an image viewing program I no longer have to worry about hooks to libjpg, libungif, libpng, libevery image file type available. Let the OS care about file types and let applications deal with raw data and focus on interface rather than file types.
My Civic only gets below sticker price when I run the AC and or drive with 3 passangers. Driving through the mountains I have gotten as low as 36MPG. but that is the worst I've ever got. Typically running ac back and forth to work I get 42MPG. In the winter when I don't have to run AC I get from 47 (sticker) to 50.
And my batterys have a 7 year factory warrantee and a 10 year extended warrantee.
With all the pollutants that are being pumped maliciously into the skies eventually float up to the Sun. As the sun orbits around the earth it scrapes through this layer of filth and causes damage to it. This damage will eventually erupt into a solar flare. This is the primary cause of global warming.
You joke, but the Kyoto Accords were created just to prevent this sort of thing. Of course the US just spit in the face of the rest of the world, again, and now we will all suffer from the suns outburst.

This is the typical knee jerk reaction to something someone said that they didn't really mean and/or don't have the political swing to implement.
It is not going to be patents or GPL it is going to be if you use your patent in a GPLed piece of software then you have released a license to you patented IP under the GPL to all you distribute that software too. They can still use patents. They can still charge for their patent to have it used in a non-GPLed product.
You're asking how can I let everyone know the passwords, yet still be secure?
Sounds like you have an architectural problem not a password problem. Not sure how to fix it, we are cursed with the same thing here. Some is being addressed but it is slow and making sure every application supports a centralized authentication system is the hardest part.
I use to think that as well. Then I noticed that while I was constantly broke, the cheapskates still had lots of money. While I wont say the first half of the statement is false I would have to say the second half is.
The problem isn't the above it is the state protected capitalism. Things like corprate personhood and limited liability protections are what cause capitalism to get out of control. Investors, boards and C*Os need to be held responsible for everything their company does. Not just when the news gets ahold of it and makes it into a big story.
There's even videos playing when I stand in line at the convenience store.
I know, you know what's weird though? I was once in a convenience store and the show that was playing was about someone, who looked a lot like me, shopping at a convenience store. Must have been from the 50s or 60s because it was black and white. It was quite the coincidence though.
Exactly we have an AIX server that is aproaching 4000 days of up time. It was install back in 1996 and has been running a critical hospital application every sense. At this point we are just waiting for it to die. The site manager doesn't want anyone to touch it until it actually does die.
Exacly.

Well I have other doctors to see too...
Kinda strange how I do that with my Linux based Tivo all the time with no problems.
One word, Plugins. No diffrent than upgrading the libs needed to do this anyway.

WOW, you are a scary man. DEAL WITH IT???? I'd sure hate to be wrongly accused in your country and found guilty.
Anyway it is to make sure that due process was followed and to help insure you are not convicted of something you did not do.

It's being done and it's called bloging.
5/17 5:11pm "My cat rolled over on it's back again today"
5/17 5:15pm "I feed my cat and he liked it"
5/17 5:23pm "That voice in my head telling me to kill my cat and eat it is getting harder to resist"
I use to think that as well. Then I noticed that while I was constantly broke, the cheapskates still had lots of money. While I wont say the first half of the statement is false I would have to say the second half is.

why bother switching to a Mac? I just use Tiger-x86.
