The only problem I see with a realistic economy driven game is that people are not going to stick around durring a resesion or depresion which you would have to have once people have choped down all the trees. sure you might be able to set up some kind of conservation group and not let people strip the lands, but you are going to have a depresion of no lumber for some period of time.

With any game you really need to be able to continously grow. this also gets out of control eventualy. eventually you get to a point where you cant grow any more.

I have never had a graphics card crash on me unless I was doing something that was well out of the ordanary. I am not saying that it doesn't happen, just that if the code is stable enough it should be in the kernel with the rest of the device driers.

Of course the linux kernel is going to move to a more microkernel like hybrid than it is right now witch would put it into the possision to support the ability to run things like graphics drivers as kernel modules.

With linux we get the best of both worlds. the speed and simplicity of a monolithic kernel and the modularity of a micro kernel.

growing up I was told a story by a teacher about a murder in New York in front of atleast 50 people. There was not one police report or 911 call or anything.

Weather this story is true or not doesn't really matter. The message is the core problem you are discussing in you post. Everyone thinks someone else is going to do it.

I submit several bug reports. Some I submit with great details even source locations as to where I think the problem may be, others with nothing more than this program is slow/crashes/whatever.

mainly because of that story told to me ohh so many years ago.
