    If you only care about those basic things, you hire a junior engineer.
    When you pay 3 to 4 times more for a senior engineer, you do it because the person has significant experience and his achievements show he knows his field probably better than your interviewers.

    If you were to hire a worldwide known Linux kernel expert, would you make him take a stupid C programming test?

    I personally discard any company that tests undergraduate-level stuff.
    This kind of thing is completely irrelevant to the skills of a senior engineer.

    This is why I personally prefer XDCC.
    Unfortunately, scene releases are often served as rars in a tar, which prevents this.

    It's just Ubuntu on your phone.
    Of course you can plug an external display, just like you can plug an external display on a laptop.

    19.6 is the current maximum VAT rate in France (which is going to increase soon). In any case it's not the highest VAT rate in Europe, which is 25% (Denmark).

    Fragmented files take more space on the disk than contiguous ones and require more time to manage them.

    I work in supercomputing.
    The tools that Fortran has are not satisfying.

    For example, to program a modern computer effectively, you need to have control on memory placement. Only low-level programming languages allow this.

    Yes. Fortran does not allow to program these at all.
    Automatic parallelization works slightly better with Fortran, but then good parallelization is a manual process anyway.

    C and C++ are still the best languages for parallelism, in particular vectorization and shared memory systems.
