Actually, I'm in Toronto (Eastern Standard Time) and I read that article on Gentoo's site in the early evening on the 31st, so it was posted quite a bit before April 1.
IPO's are good for the insiders who get to buy cheap stocks before the masses do, and it generates a one time infusion of cash for a company, which comes with strings attached. I hope google stays private.
Knoppix has excellent hardware detection also... This past weekend I installed Gentoo, but I was having problems with the X config, so I booted Knoppix, copied the XF86Config-4 file that Knoppix generated to the gentoo partition and it worked perfectly!
You should have just installed Linux and given them regular user accounts. If they want you to be their IT providor, you should at least be able to choose the platform.
I'd be more interested in doing something like this for my Playstation 2, plus it would be easier to burn CD's than cartridges. Anyone know if there is an SDK for Playstation 2? I searched the web briefly but couldn't find any info.
Yeah, but most people want to either burn a CD or listen to the MP3 on their computer.. if that's the goal, it's easier to download the song than tape it off the radio then figure out how to get it from tape on to the PC. Also, the downloaded MP3 would probably have better sound quality (and no DJ talking over the beginning!).

That certainly is a local phenomon.. Anywhere in the Toronto area it is $12-$14CDN for a newish cinima, and a popcorn and 2 cokes will set you back about $15. When I take my wife to a movie, it usually comes to around $40, not including dinner. At these prices it really irritates me that I have to watch 30 minutes of commercials before the movie starts. Now we'll be doing the same thing in video games? Home DVD's are heading this way too, some already won't let you skip the copyright info and previews.
Credible news source? What credible news source??! :-)

MCSE's code?
The goal: Red Hat version 15 by the end of the year!

Airport security won't like that at all, trust me.
Tell them that if they write crappy code, you'll post it on Slashdot so we can all laugh at it!
That's one way to avoid a severe Slashdotting! No Slashdotters will pay to read an article that they probably wouldn't read for free, anyway.
Where are the karma whores when you need em? ;-)
All my socks are identical, so they always match. With proper rotation, they all wear out at the same time, so I replace them all at once.
I've been a programmer for years and I still don't know what 'real' developers do!
I thought if you had the Palladium hardware the computer wouldn't work without a Palladium aware OS?
You should have got one of those mechanical Borg penises!
Works fine for me, I'm using Mozzilla 5.1 under Win2K (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826) ... Works fine!
www.esa.int? WTF domain is that?! The web site works, so it must be a new one?

Jesus, that's worse than the broad who almost hit me today while putting on makeup while driving.
Nice Yngwie Malmsteen reference!! Must be the first ever on /. !
Yeah, but it's the hotels on Park Place that I'm worried about...
True, plus if you have enough money, your copyright can last forever.
You don't need a special day to do that...
