Capitalism is just a race to the bottom. Not only did Uber break the law, but they managed to get further to the bottom (read: paying nothing) so they are successful. It wouldn't be the first time, YouTube basically started off of publishing copyrighted material.
You asked on a technically inclined board, you got a technically inclined answer. All I can say is, even my parents know where their files are and are able to copy them manually. I don't understand how people could not know how to copy a file.
Comparing the first mp3 player that was even pre-USB to Apple devices is not really valid.
The USB player I had at the time that the iPod came out was way easier to use. The player I had you could plug into any computer and simply copy a file. With the iPod, I needed to start iTunes, get the music into my iTunes library, and go through all kinds of options to sync. Furthermore, I had to have a dedicated system to sync from even though I use multiple systems, and I couldn't just copy any file and use it as a flash drive, I had to copy a compatible file that iTunes would recognize such as an mp3 or mp4 etc.
I don't know if it is still like that today, but I like the freedom of doing a plug in and copy with no application required.
Or you could just not show TV with advertisements to your kids. You know, parental moderation?
The wife and I did it. My kids had to grow up without Disney TV etc, but today I think they are better off for it.
I'm not sure of the capibilities of Audiotron, but Squeezeplay allows me to switch sources, whether it be a radio service like pandora or mp3s on disk. It also searches through live feeds of radio on the internet. I am not in a big city and most of my local stations are available. And yes there is the syncing ability, I can have the same service playing all through my house if I want, or I can have every player on a different source.
So it is going to be like Squeezeplay, but connected to proprietary products instead of a server that runs on almost any hardware and free clients/controllers that you can install on windows/linux/android at will?
We'll see how it does. If it was Apple, I would say people would almost certainly buy it.
Still a pain in the ass having to buy and use one. If I buy an expensive machine, it does what I need without all kinds of other things dangling off of it.
I'm the kind of person who cares about the environment and uses things until they die, and I can tell you all the monitors I have around here are still VGA.
People keep saying micro USB is inferior, but I have a Galaxy S3 that has been plugged in at least 3 times a day on average that seems to be doing alright.
But would you then complain that there is no one available to mow your lawn? Or would you just say you had to do it yourself because the neighborhood kids are too expensive.
My Rayovac S3 battery cost $12. Pretty good brand.
Listen, if it fried my S3.. meh then I need to get another one. But you know what it worked, and I'm fine with stretching my phone. It's better for my pocket and the environment.
I have a GS3, and it is fine and I won't replace it until it dies.. But I find that I get very poor battery life out of it. Like sometimes dead by 1pm when charged overnight. I bought another fresh battery and same result. I just charge them overnight and swap them so it's really not an issue. I even looked at alternative ROMs because some have improvement on battery use, but mine is a vendor model which most ROMs don't work on.
So.. yeah. No user replaceable battery in the S6? Even though I wouldn't get a Galaxy again, I was thinking of a Note. Maybe this makes me think something else altogether. And yes I've already sworn off Apple.
I've afraid to say it, but I think there needs to be some sort of revolution for us to actually get a utopia brought on my technical advancement. Think about it. In the future we are supposed to ba able to work a couple hours a day and have most of the day for leisure but who is going to start paying someone a current equivilant of a full day's wages for a couple hours work? Without the wages staying the same, extra leisure time is just unemployment and misery.
Under the current system, we ARE seeing benefits from technology but it is just going to shareholders, which, let's be honest, takes a certain amount of wealth in the first place to actually live off of.
There has to be some major shit that has to happen to set things the way they play out in the movies.
So the question is.. would you put your money in a bank without regulation? ie. Uber

All you need to do is convince people to stop buying it and they won't make it.

Yes, the Squeezebox stuff could benefit from better GUIs and being alittle more seamless, still it is an amazing product on the back end.
I wasn't aware Slashdot had forbidden imagination. That explains why there are so few articles on unicorns.

So? Macs are only technically computers. Apple sells them just fine.

I have a couple things that I've lost in my life that must be on Mars.
Dude, I was there last week! I spent 45 minutes on the first page that came up in Google and I was golden.

Or.. You're out of memory on your base phone (like I am right now) and need to expand, as it has just occurred to me that I should do.

At first I thought this was a story of Microsoft heralding a broadsword by bringing their interests home.
As it tuns out, even the repressed have it bad in the 'global economy'.
Here it is folks, the wealthy rule the earth.
That's a lot of system problems from a reputable vendor that has total control over the quality of the product.
So the only people who know are the ones who have done both, of which there are many.
Perhaps we should give them hugs and include them in our sing song circle?
And then you will be paying peak dollar and quickly finding yourself pining after the next new wave.
