It's called "Snark". I've actually had bad experiences with AIX in general. I can usually move from UNIX-to-UNIX pretty easily, but AIX was pretty messed up.
Well, A) We were going from Solaris to AIX, and B) Some people actually use applications they buy as a product, not as source code. And some managers aren't happy when you tell them "We need to rebuy this really expensive software now", and some are REALLY not happy when you tell them "I told you this months before we moved to AIX. In fact here's an Email trail showing me telling you that about 50 times in the past 6 months."
Couldn't they at least switch to a real UNIX? Man I'd hate to be working IT for THAT migration. I've never been a huge fan of ACHES, and I've had to do migrations to it and they were just an incredible pain. IBM have this thing where they like to undercut the competition. Management sees he Bottom Line Price and tends not to listen to IT telling them that, no, you can't just copy all the applications over to the IBM box just because IBM told you that UNIX is UNIX. Gah.
I am not a woman. And frankly, I would LOVE to flee my IT jobs, ESPECIALLY because of the whole being on-call 24 hours, and all the after-hours work, etc. Yeah, I can move into Management, but at the price of selling even MORE bits of my life away. Honestly, if I had ANY skills other than the pretty small niche of IT I'm in, I'd be fleeing, too.
You ask me, women are fleeing IT because they're SMARTER.
The new DST helped me out a lot. I like it when it's lighter out later, earlier in the year. I vote we stay on this time all year round. Switching around at all is dumb.
I had never been able to use opera mini (or any other 3rd party web application) on my t-mobile phone until I got an unlocked phone. Now I can do whatever I want. Hah.
I want a MBP rather than a MP because A) I don't like the shiny screen the MB comes with, B) I/really/ don't like the crap plastic keyboard on the MB, and C) Hell, I'll admit it, the MB looks like a toy, whereas the MBP looks like A COMPUTER.
Don't they know that if they find the higgs particle, the entire planet will collapse on itself and end up about the size of a pea??!
Now if you'll excuse me, I think I just saw a really friggin huge dragonfly in my yard.
The only way to truly know these things is through phrenology.

The whole "real unix" thing is really more snark than anything. Real Unix doesn't need SMIT.

I hope the next MacBooks (specifically the 13.3" MacBookPro I've been whining for for a while now) has a BluRay option.
That'll make the version without the BluRay reader $200 cheaper, which works just fine for me.
Exactly! Halloween costume, stage act, it's just more comfortable, nobody listens!
Actually, the funny thing is people often try to get me to admit the opposite. I mean, you wear a dress ONE TIME and you're branded for life!!!
I appreciate that. Often I get the opposite reaction.

Wow, that was unbiased.

Oh my god, is there a list of which ones? There's going to be some pretty good close-out sales!!!
This is going to suuuuuuuuuuuck!

To be fair, the kid is driving like a maniac.
I would love solar (or some other alternative) energy for my house. Love it. But it's just too expensive.
That said, this is kind of nuts. They're using my roof space, selling power back to the energy companies and I still have to pay them?
Now, set this up so I pay them a flat-rate for a few years (even a rather long time, like 7 years) and I would absolutely consider it.

Yeesh, if you're going to get something that big, just get a 21" iMac and drag around a generator or something. It won't be THAT much less convenient.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Just make a 13.3" MacBookPro already! I don't want a MacBook and I don't want a 15.whatever laptop.
I love my 12" Powerbook but it's getting to the point where it's just too underpowered, and I don't have an upgrade path that I'm happy with.
*laughs* nice.
Not saying I do it a lot, but it does happen. And I know a few people who do watch livetv a lot. I don't know WHY, but they do.
I think if it's ignoring when I just watch live stuff (and some people watch a lot of live stuff) then it's missing a lot of data, is all.
This is exactly what I'm saying. It's ignoring all the stuff that people watch LIVE without recording.
I personally don't use a TiVo remote for anything. I've got a Harmony remote (;
/do/ just let it sit there and watch it. I'm sure that novelty will wear off in a month or two, but still...
...not that I care if advertisers get some inaccurate data.
Also, TiVo changes channels on it's own in order to record stuff.
And since I got DiscoveryHD I
They might have some good assumptions going, but I doubt they're anywhere near accurate.
