As I recall, the IA64 isn't designed for the desktop user... In fact, desktop users probably don't even need 64 processing for a number of years still....
I need more than 4GB RAM (3.5 if I want it stable) for video editing and 3D rendering.
AMD is developing their 64bit chipsets with the desktop market in mind, as well as the server market. Intel has forgone the desktop, which will turn out to be a huge blunder. Especially when its already a determined fact that the 32bit emulation mode on AMDs line slaughters the 32bit mode on the Itanium.
And my point was that they leased the offices at the height of the dot-bomb boom.....and now can't get out of the contract....they've just been lucky enough to surive this long compared to others
The problem is that they are having trouble getting out of their 10year lease on the offices. They weren't on a shoestring budget when they leased the spaces....and now do to poor planning and not realizing the bubble would crash, they can't get out of them.
I love using Windows....when it is apropriate (for instance the software packages that I use at work)
However, a full-fledged operating system modified to control a car in a haphazard hackjob is the wrong answer, regardless of what OS is used IMHO. A knob paired with complicated menus and flaky voice-activation is not the right interface for a car, regardless of whats underneath.
Glad to see that the BMW-Windows hybrid is NOT on the list....showing these guys are impressed by well thought out, practical solutions, not gimmicks and gadgets
And apple is trying to decieve people into thinking they have the only small-sized full-pwered laptop in existance. hmmmm....
Anyways...its clear that apple introduced the 12" powerbook because they're gonna kill off the iBook line...the only reason why the iBook is still around is to get rid of all those old G3 chips they still have in inventory...the high end iBook is verrrry similiar to the 12" powerbook
VPC emulates a S3 card...if you install a virtual windows machine, you can go into the driver configuration for the video card (in windows) and see specifically what card it is emulating
if a 350 watt power supply was more "macho" than anything in the office, then this artist certainly isn't pushing the envelope
500 watt power supply is recommended for the dual-proc athlon boards we are using for rendering 3d animations.....and we're still scraping for extra CPU cycles
i understand the safety issues about launching toxic waste....but i wonder what the total storage cost ends up being.....if we were able to have some sort of reliable space-launch system (reliable to the point of probability of disaster being lower than the current storage pools) would it cost less than current storage means?
Harrison and Hillary...no prob....but I feel sorry for your son Haines....do you have any idea how many underwear jokes he's going to suffer during his childhood??

they have expensive offices in Manhattan as well.

Well put. So, vi or Emacs? ;)
Pico!

Or maybee it was because Compaq reverse engineered the IBM BIOS?
If MS does sign it...then they've legitimized their largest threat - bad for microsoft
If MS doesn't sign it....clear case of MS using its monopoly in one market to attempt to dominate another = more antitrust lawsuits
Its a no-win situation for MS.
no....he's definately a spammer....what is alledged/under investigation is whether he was involved in fraudulent market manipulation

Yep, I'm using a Quadro4 for 3D modeling of architecture.....the higher the polycount I can display in real-time, the faster my workflow

aside from launch problem fears...
how much is the TCO on nuclear/toxic waste? (stored in Yucca Mtn or not)
All industry software projects I'm involved in are in ... ah forgett it you wont belive it anyway ...
HINT: its not C and its not C++.
is it C# ?
Gollum is a cliche much in the same way that Casablanca is a cliche...that is they are the original which all the cliches are drawn from.
That aside, I agree that TTT, even w/ the Ents, is going to be the low point in the movie trilogy.
The problem w/ awards such as casting....is that the award doesn't go to incredible voice/body actor....it goes to the casting director.
Nice troll....
I find it hard to believe that anyone would deny that Schindler's list was deserving of its nominations. (or a whole slew of other films)
Guess what, if you are only into geek/fantasy/sci-fi films, you are the minority, and the vast majority (ie. "the masses") don't enjoy them.
That said, do you think Jurrasic Park didn't deserve any of its nominations?
42 cents? I think they did.
Win2K is STILL a CURRENT platform
This shows that Microsfot does get it, and you do not.
Win2k is a business platform, not meant for home use. This 3 degrees application is aimed at teenagers, at home, on broadband connections.
I don't think that anyone would want them running this on WinME, the home release timed to correspond to Win2k.
Oh, and requiring SP1 means that they prevent most illegal copies of WinXP from running this.
But even with your user number of 3, you only have 56 comments...lot of wisdom you seem to be dispensing :)
the problem is what the ends of the "dark fiber" connect to
It isn't a freeway between say New York and Washington D.C. thats dark and unused, its the major freeway between Safeway and bob's convenience store.
Does that make any sense? The dark fiber is dark because its not needed because of what it connects to.
I've known this phenomenon for quite a while (it makes perfect logical sense) having commuted in rush hour traffic for many years
scary how much thought this guy has put into it....but i bet the transportation department would fund him to do a study
