    What monoculture? There's a standards compatible browser on each OS.

    You can't full-text search a library book, nor can you jot notes in it.

    This is the feature I'm looking forward to most. Being able to write a paper and just ctrl+f (or whatever button they have) for a particular quote in a novel would be awesome.

    Universal Suffrage (Males originally), was intened to pacify the radical working population when it came about it Europe (US only banned the slaves). There was often a transitional state where only Landowners and then taxpayers were allowed to vote. Forcing a tax requirement on the right to vote would have several repurcussions:
    • Riots on the parts of the now disenfranchised poor
    • A devastated Democrat party
    • Cutbacks to social programs.

    I would agree with this though, even if I would become disenfranchised as part of it, it makes sense that those who make no contribution to government have no say in government.

    So why not allow class swaps more often? If Jonny can't multiply let him go to a lesser class, and let Timmy move to a more appropriate class. Yes you wind up sabotaging Jonny sometimes in Self-Esteem, but its better to let him work at something he's more capable of than make him feel dumb that he's not operating with the class and then fails, and then becomes the high school buffoon. Not everyone needs to go to college, but everyone should get an education that they can enjoy.

    Just vehicular accidents caused by Alcohol consumption. Sure the Alcoholic may live, and you can make a case that he doens't deserve jail, but Alcohol still had a role in the destruction of his vehicle and whatever he hit.

    The price goes up if there's someone on the other line though. If we pick out a topic that won't hit the mainstream news feeds (like this one), the price is low. But there is no way in hell you could simply buy something as huge as the Healthcare Reform Bill at $5k a senator. I think the price is probably more like $10k.

    So if this historical pattern continues, Michael Dell will be named "Defender of the OS", Redmond will be sacked by a Cupertino horde, and Steve Jobs will force Dell to create its own OS, which is just a hack job of Windows.
