You can't full-text search a library book, nor can you jot notes in it.
This is the feature I'm looking forward to most. Being able to write a paper and just ctrl+f (or whatever button they have) for a particular quote in a novel would be awesome.
Universal Suffrage (Males originally), was intened to pacify the radical working population when it came about it Europe (US only banned the slaves). There was often a transitional state where only Landowners and then taxpayers were allowed to vote. Forcing a tax requirement on the right to vote would have several repurcussions:
Riots on the parts of the now disenfranchised poor
A devastated Democrat party
Cutbacks to social programs.
I would agree with this though, even if I would become disenfranchised as part of it, it makes sense that those who make no contribution to government have no say in government.
So why not allow class swaps more often? If Jonny can't multiply let him go to a lesser class, and let Timmy move to a more appropriate class. Yes you wind up sabotaging Jonny sometimes in Self-Esteem, but its better to let him work at something he's more capable of than make him feel dumb that he's not operating with the class and then fails, and then becomes the high school buffoon. Not everyone needs to go to college, but everyone should get an education that they can enjoy.
And how many eye rays? Quick, everyone get into a line so he can't use all of them! I wonder what "Reasonable Accomadations" are for the guy who fails against Flesh to Stone?
Just vehicular accidents caused by Alcohol consumption. Sure the Alcoholic may live, and you can make a case that he doens't deserve jail, but Alcohol still had a role in the destruction of his vehicle and whatever he hit.
See I was about to post something about the ancient world. And then realized you were right. Although saying they are just Tax Evasion schemes is too simplistic. They also are mass pacifiers, and veils for taxes.
"Nature herself has imprinted upon man, the idea of God".
The price goes up if there's someone on the other line though. If we pick out a topic that won't hit the mainstream news feeds (like this one), the price is low. But there is no way in hell you could simply buy something as huge as the Healthcare Reform Bill at $5k a senator. I think the price is probably more like $10k.
Gentlemen: If I gave you a Million dollars will you sleep with me?
Lady: Well yes.
Gentlemen: How about $20?
Lady: What type of Woman do you think I am?!
Gentlemen: We've already established that. Now we're negotiating price.
But then your forcing the other child to have to move. If they both go to the same school a restraining order would just be overkill. Of course this law is rather unnecessary and something a little more civil should be devised, but hey, its Texas.
So if this historical pattern continues, Michael Dell will be named "Defender of the OS", Redmond will be sacked by a Cupertino horde, and Steve Jobs will force Dell to create its own OS, which is just a hack job of Windows.
monoculture problem of the desktop
What monoculture? There's a standards compatible browser on each OS.

And Europe just swaps the variables.

Free almost always wins in a battle.
Yeah year of Linux on the Desktop!

Then instead of posting URLs just post the needed google search.
Unless the hyperlink is to Goatse.

"all standardize on one OS though"
Now I realize that all is a broad term and that this is /. But wasn't this done in the 90's by a Mr. Bill Gates?
Oh and it's Standardize with a z.
Do you value your life during a power outage?
How un-Nationalistic.What are you Metternich? Except instead of class we are based on our profession?
Really if you wanted to make a point you should have just evoked Godwin and said:
Adolf Smith or some such nonsense.
Can we vote out Sports stars too? I'm pretty sure Football was supposed to be a hobby.

o Interface - People don't want to learn a new "kiddie"/"simplistic" interface on a OS that doesn't run their normal software
All I can hear now are the commercials about "Everyday Heroes" spoken in that irritating sing song voice.
"So to you, guy who figured out not to open up that E-mail virus"
"Everyday Heeeroes"

Yeah it would almost be as embarrassing as getting fragged by a Frenchie.
6)Guy who sets this up for profit, Profits.
No need for a ??? here folks.
You know who else was a shill: Henry the VII.
Who was he a shill for: The Catholic Church.

History Analogies, strange ain't they?
