The problem with advertising for the iPhone is that your selling apps to a rather niche market (We're not marketing symbian or Windows Mobile apps here). Really the way to advertise a specific iPhone app is either word of mouth or getting iPhone heavy websites to write an article or host a flash banner.
Of course in relation to the article these users don't matter. Your not supposed to be using Youtube at corporate HQ right? Right? Why is everyone laughing?
Would be interesting if Chrome OS went and used Labels. That would be very interesting indeed as a Gmail like system would probably work better than the current Docs system.
I'd agree with you. If only I didn't realize that the price of digital books would remain the same. They didn't go down with digital distribution and they won't go down with Chipotle ads in the margins. The only thing that will go down is the enjoyment to cost ratio, and the purchased books to pirated books ratio.
I would like to see more free as in speech but not quite bear software to help build up linux's commercial area. Although what's wrong with just making a prettier front end to the current Repos?
Doesn't MSFT already make their Indian version cheaper? Of course you can't get it in English but I believe they lower the cost of Windows to something the average Indian can afford. Which is irritating since you can't just bring over the Indian price to your region because they need to Maximize profit or whatever.
The Axemaker's Gift. Is a rather fascinating book about how Human's turn every tool into a double edged sword. The axe for example allows for easy wood collection but also mass deforestation and erosion.
It reminds me of that article about Microsoft planning to leave the country if more corporate taxes are instated. Of course Microsoft is already doing so and everyone is giving a resounding "meh". Maybe if they chose to not ship Windows 7 to the US unless Corporate taxes went down.
Of course this is Amazon which is an OK company to root for despite the kindle. And it is outside NC's jurisdiction of taxation. So what happens if there is a federal tax on the internet?
But how many of them are made by a company that even a non-techie would trust? I guess this isn't a problem if it's not bundled since non-techies won't download anything unless it's front page google or a techie advised it to them. And most techies will jump on the non-Microsoft version typically. It all comes down to winning over those techies and CxO's. I'm sure Microsoft will throw the for-pay version at corps though.
Booting linux from a flash drive has been available for awhile. If there was a linux savvy Admin, then he could build his own customized distro with plenty of persisted space.
For the poster above however I would say it has something to do with computers coming with windows by default. And the general fear of non-windows software.
"Perhaps the biggest injustice of the system is the manner in which foreign graduate students are treated. We award a huge number of advanced Ph.D positions (often government funded) to foreign students, and force them to return home after they've received their degree! Not only are we depriving Am.erican citizens from educational opportunities, but we're also essentially educating other countries',workers for free."
Is there any particular reason why this happens, and why congress hasn't put a stop to it?
Now this is a hard stand. It comes back to the housing problem except it hits a much more fundamental need. Would it be better for a small clinic in an intercity area to just stop purchasing the latest equipment in order to keep costs low for thier poorer clients? I know it may seem cold hearted to say that because of economical inequality some people can't have good healthcare but what do we really owe each and every member of society no matter how much they contribute?
I guess in the end it comes down to who you would rather be screwing you over, a man in a Government office or a private office. But wouldn't it be better for the money to sit in the Government's empty coffers than the private insurers. Heck we may have a *gasp* budget surplus if the government begins to bring in the cash. Of course I don't have any numbers to figure out what would happen if all the money that the private insurers make went into the debt so maybe a +5 informative person will help me out there.
"Replaced their Office interface with that goddawful ever changing ribbon which certain geeks continue to defend despite it completely ruining productivity, and now they're incorporating it into every damn program they can"
I can see defending the ribbon as a much easier to use GUI. However the productivity will not be realized except for new users and once those still using menus (OO.o) wind up running out of room. For business with a bunch of "click here to do this" Office 2003 staff, the Ribbon is a nightmare. Seriously how difficult is it to put in an option to replace the ribbon with the menus? Like this
Okay hold on a second. Your Windows description is grossly exaggerated, as most of the time you either have a driver cd or the site isn't quite so bad. Not having a driver is much worse than having the driver just be difficult to obtain.
Now either your clueless and think he's actually glad people are clicking on ads because he laces ads with virii. Judging by your spelling I'm leaning on this option.
Or your trying to be funny by making a statement about the use of ad based business models on the web into a joke about the article.
Which is it?
"If they can provide enough new quality content each month it could be worth subscribing."
Fixed for you.
Of course with the current state of the music industry it would be:
"If they can provide enough new content that they play on the radio then people will keep subscribing."
Not only is it an acronym but it actually makes sense. Microsoft really wishes that it can somehow win a victory over Google. They should be able to since they have the greater resources but considering the current situation it seems like they have failed. Maybe they should emphasize the web services that are working? Like Sky Drive, or that Microsoft Office Live thing (Has that gone the way of DNF?). I doubt Wolfram alpha will even make a dent in Google's marketshare although it may at least bury Google Squared.
By taking my pills everyday. Now get off my lawn!

Nobody expects the Google beta. Since most of them died yesterday.
Fixed that for you.

Mainly a question for the conspiracy guys.
If (user.can(see it on their computer)){ user.can(download it) }

Or your talking about turning on allies like Russia which is in only slightly better taste.
Ah but wouldn't the cellphone companies love to see that change.

God the Flash of light! It burns like the sun of the desert full of Adobe houses!
You just won the Comment Section.
