In version 22, I could use the URL bar to search for something via google and use the search box (on the right) for other searches without changing it. Now in 23, they are in sync. So if the right bar is set for "corporate bug search engine" the URL bar is set for that as well.

Kinda liked being able to have two different search bars at the same time.

I know I can use aliases in the URL bar (I use 'dir' to search the corporate directory), but this was a surprise.

Most enterprises implement a dual product solution. They install a dedicated router and a wireless access point. So get ready to spend $500+ on your solution. The linksys/netgear/asus products are meant to be all in one devices.

If you're looking for an all in one router then look at the Cisco 800 series routers. However, most of the models provide features you do not need like hardware based VPN or QoS, features you most likely do not need for providing you family with access to hulu/youtube etc..

However, I've got an Asus RT-A66U (or Best Buy's name: RT-A66R, same router different name). Easily handles 50Mb down and has 4 GigE ports for LAN traffic. Great range and decent price. Sure the top gets warm/hot but that's because it uses the top metal cover as a large heat sink. I don't put other gear on top of it nor hold it, so it's not a problem. Has solid reviews on Newegg as well.

You people do realize that for *years* high end disk arrays shipped with *gasp* modems.

So if a problem occurred the array could 'phone home', open a case, upload logs and tell the vendor a problem took place. Then the vendor could dial in, diagnose the problem and dispatch a CE with the replacement part.

The techs accessing the arrays over the modems couldn't 'download' the customer data. Yes there were some companies that wouldn't allow the modem to be installed and would often have to sign very long legal documents basically saying that if a hardware failure happened and the vendor wasn't notified, the customer assumed responsibility.

The reason why it's so expensive for you to go to the movies is that you're not going to the movies and getting a snack, you're going to dinner and watching a movie. a $12 ticket plus $15 worth of food.

"Starter homes" around here which I'd say is a 1500sq ft with almost no land 10ft from your side walls to your neighbors' and your house is 20ft from the back property line), costs $500k and up. Want to live in a district with good schools? Take that same 40 year old house and crank up the price to a cool million. Oh and you'll need to put in about $50-75k worth of upgrades to replace that cracking wood shingle roof, worn out carpets and pipes that have been moving hard water for 40 years. That's ok for the seller because they know someone will move in to put their kids into the top schools around here. Oh don't forget the $15k worth of property taxes each year and potentially $400/month in HOA fees.

Housing prices are now higher than during the bubble, dot-com or housing bubble. It didn't help that all the sellers sat on their homes in the hopes that some Facebook millionaire would want to buy their house.

I live in the silicon valley and can't wait for the day to sell my home and move to another part of the country and pay for a 3k sq ft home for $500k with an acre of land on a lake.

Silicon Valley, like NYC but spread out and requires a car.
