RotT was released just after Doom, which is unfortunate for them because I think if they had beaten Doom to the market they could have really cleaned up. I don't think it was based on the Wolfenstein engine, it was way too slick, and unlike Doom I think it really was 3-dimensional in the sense you could go under things.
And the people who like reality TV show and who can't read probably wouldn't like the tradeoffs either. But those people who actually can appreciate real culture, and real arts, and life outside suburbia, do.

Ok, that's just not so. New York, in September-early November, and in like April-July, has beautiful weather. And Redmond isn't exactly an eternal springtime, it's June and still 52 degrees there.
Actually you can live on a relatively modest salary in NYC if you had to. Your home will be smaller and more cramped, and your commute will be longer, but a lot of people think the tradeoffs are worth it.
Weird. I mean, I can see if they were being asked to move to like Dallas or Detroit or something, but why wouldn't you want to move to New York or San Francisco?
Seriously, though. If a parent is unwilling to monitor their child's internet time themselves, they have no business even allowing that child access to the internet at home.
I have never really understood that proposition, which is repeated constantly on slashdot when these kinds of stories come up.
What exactly are parents supposed to do? Anytime their kids go online, to sit there, right next to them, for the entire time, watching them?
Yes, but when you start looking at game consoles as multipurpose devices, there is absolutely no point in buying one. Just use a computer, smartphone or PDA. A company could easily make a windows based PDA with a control pad and buttons in addition to the traditional touch interface.
...And it would be far more expensive than the PSP. I don't have a PSP because I have no need of one, but I've seen them and they're a lot slicker and better for multimedia than any PDA, plus they're significantly cheaper.
What I don't understand is the GP's hypocrisy in saying "Square never innovates" and saying "I didn't like FFXII because it was too different" at the same time.
I have read the GPs post several times, and nowhere can I find him claiming that "Square never innovates". Or am I reading the wrong post?
There are way too many ties between the people who write the law and the people who make money knowing the law. Politicans aren't about to put lawyers out of work by making the legal system intelligible to the common citizen.
Having non-lawyers write laws will result in really poorly-written laws with plenty of loopholes. The law is like every other specialized field; it develops its own language for a reason.
As far as I can tell, if I transcribe a song into tab, it is my work, not theirs.
That doesn't make too much sense. I mean, if instead of photocopying an electronics schematic I manually draw a new one, with the original right there for reference, is that "my work"?
Well, after seeing Mr Obama's name on the list, I went and submitted the following Post under the category of "Ethics" -- I cannot believe that Senator Obama, a man who asked for the debates to be licensed under the "Creative Commons" could have the nerve to accept money from a group of extorting corporate gluttons like the RIAA who are KNOWN for pressing charges against people who have NO means to defend themselves. And the fact that Senator Obama is a Democrat, makes me truly wish that I was NOT!! What ever happened to idealistic liberals who thought they could make the world a better place?... I guess money made by the suffering of the defenseless makes YOUR world a better place... SHAME ON YOU!! Regards, Karim Ali --
He received $2,000. I think it's highly likely that he never even realized the RIAA donated, as I find it improbable that someone who's raised millions and millions of dollars actually goes through who gave each donation.
2. Expensive earbuds are way better than the default ones.
They're both lousy for your ears. I never even tried using the ones I got with my ipod, I bought an old-fashioned over-the-ears pair; doesn't look cool but at least my ears should be (relatively) safe.
And man was it a lousy movie.
Persuasive authority is a lot more useful than most people realize, especially federal court decisions.
No snide comments thrown in the slashdot story denigrating Sony? What is this, a neutral, legitimate news site now or something??

I kind of agree. I'm seriously considering buying one, though that decision would be already made if it was $100 less.
Personally, I'm offended you compared Dallas to Detroit. I really like this town. Lots of space too!
Based on your reply, I'm not sure which city you're actually defending.
Judging by the state of the game industry, the new one will somehow be a WW2 FPS.

Well from a philosophical perspective that seems like the same kind of thing as censorware.

Take the job, but don't do it very well.
You know, if everyone who went to work for MS did that, that would explain a lot of things...

Look how he describes it not as a federal court, but as a "New York court" in order to exploit the biases of the rest of the country.

I can't imagine how anyone could consider themselves "professional" without professional standards of behavior to go along with it.
Welcome to IT. IT professionals skew younger and more socially maladjusted than other groups I think.
Please, God, let the new title be Commander Keen 5...
Ugh, the most overrated game series in history.
Maybe they'll blow everyone's mind and release a game that isn't a FPS.
Maybe they'll really go overboard and release a game that isn't a horror/scifi FPS seemingly based on bad 80's heavy metal album covers.
I'm betting this is anouther in a long line of Sun articles designed to sell newspapers
Uhhhh, is this really the kind of thing that has the whole nation watching?
