Thousands of sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists, and psychiatrists who have dedicated their careers to doing such studies. Why do you and everyone else here who has posted the same accusation assume that just because one study is about video games they all are?

Which disturbs you more? That Rockstar makes the games, or that people buy them?

Neither disturbs me especially, I was simply remarking that's something that Rockstar can do to avoid criticism.

Humanities dark side is more intriguing to me and many other people. Sales show it. And when is the last time you saw a study on the behavior of people with the characteristics of a monk or saint as opposed to the severly depressed or psychotic?

The best games are the ones that have some sort of ethical or philosophical component. Ultima, Ico, FF, Deus Ex, etc. Rockstar has an immensely talented development team, it would be nice to see them try to transcend the gratuitous violence and make something more important. And the psychotic really aren't that interesting or that deep.

Possible. Something else to consider, though: GTA doesn't just allow you to commit vandalism, it also deals you consequences for your actions. Run over pedestrians, police chase you. I'll tell you something, once you've gained three stars in that game, the Police turn into real bastards. They keep coming, they never give up, and your chances of survival have more to do with luck than skill. I can imagine kids saying "Well, that was fun, but man I never wanna piss off the cops."

Yes, and in GTA you face the extreme punishment of having the police take a little of your money and putting you immediately back on the streets. There are very few serious consequences in that game. Which is kind of dumb, it would be a lot cooler if there were, it would add an additional level of adrenaline.

Oh, and if I had $100m, I wouldn't give a flying f*** about rockets. I'd be way too busy swimming in my money bin anyway, and that ass who does my flying would just crash it.

Damn straight. Anyway I wouldn't trust the young, nubile, gold-digging women who I would surround myself with in my mansion without me. I leave it to go to the moon and they might steal the silverware.
