I'm sure the big players are rubbing their hands with glee and quietly cheering for Tesla to be the bad guy here. As soon as those laws are overturned, I'm sure the 'car dealership franchise thing' will rapidly get blown up and be a thing of the past. It seems to be a supremely expensive and risky business model (huge tracts of land in prime areas, huge buildings, tons of staff, tons of risk by a franchiser loaning out the corporate brand) that should be disrupted. Tesla has it right but they will pave the way for all cars to be sold their way and lose the competitive edge of cutting out the middle man quickly.
Yep.. when you get a new 'droid, iPhone or iPad, all of your apps automatically reinstall...wonder how that happens. Just because it's Microsoft this is an issue. Actually SmartScreen on Windows 8 is a good way to see what my kid is doing on the Internet without some 3rd party crapware that is definitely using your shit in ways you don't know about. And as other posters have said you can just turn it off.
So - they don't care. Point to OWA/Activesync, use SSL VPN to get to apps and RDP to your box in the office, done. A lot of small companies won't be here soon but a lot of big corps are there now. They do not give a crap about enterprise penetration.
That doesn't say anything about Microsoft, it speaks to their security. They should treat every corporate user as an external user with a profile that controls their level of trust. That is where the market is going.
Correct- you can do just about anything anyone cares about through ActiveSync (mail) and Lync (messaging/VOIP) on a tablet. Bloat is unnecessary. Storage on Skydrive. IMHO connecting to the domain is becoming obsolete.
That's called any device with an ActiveSync client. So, you are not 'joining the domain', you are connecting to Exchange in a similar method that a blackberry connects to BES.
The untold story here is that a lot of corporate strategies are moving to BYOD (bring your own device) and they just provide the security through Good or ActiveSync, particularly as orgs move to cloud based email solutions - and corporate cell phone plans are robbery.
Just like companies stopped paying for DSL and ISDN lines, cell phones are quickly becoming the next on the chopping block. BB is feeling this because they ignored the consumer market. The open alternatives for mobile email hosting are too cheap to ignore and 'good enough', particularly because corps are paying for Exchange CALs AND BB licenses AND for the phone AND for the plan. Doesn't make financial sense for companies to carry all that cost when you are available 99% of the time anyway when it matters on a laptop.
1. MSFT - 20% YTD rise in stock. $23B in profit last year.
2. Companies also have mechanisms to create shell corps all over the world to get preferable tax treatment for acquisitions and investments. This is a huge business all on its own. There is no excuse for Apple having all that money.
They just have no business plan beyond making a few great products and hit the lottery with their phone. Anyone else would invest that cash into owning its destiny - but does Apple wants to buy Foxconn and be accountable for 800K Chinese citizens welfare? Nope. Do they want to pull their cloud services offerings in house instead of outsourcing to Amazon and MSFT? (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09/02/icloud_runs_on_microsoft_azure_and_amazon/) Nope. Outside of core business. They are truly counting on hitting the lottery every year - and to do that, you have to keep a lot of cash on hand to pay the bills incase you don't hit.
Skydrive, OneNote and Lync both have native Android and iOS clients. Anyone with a Skydrive account has access to mobile and full browser access to HTML5 versions of the big 4 office apps. So, all of Office is already available everywhere on any platform. Next.
Please name another company that is putting a single dime into serious enterprise productivity tools and please post your research and how it is relevant to the year 2012. I am always wondering who is always so much better relative to MSFT in this space.
The software giant said in a statement that the protest erupted over "staffing assignments and transfer policies, not working conditions" at the facility, where Foxconn reportedly manufactures the Xbox game console. Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft said workers at the plant manufactured hardware products but didn't specify which ones.
In a separate statement, Foxconn said about 150 workers staged a protest after the company announced all workers in their business unit were being transferred to another unit within the Wuhan manufacturing campus. Foxconn described the change as "a shift in production lines."
Used market is a rip-off in the big franchises. It is usually the better deal to wait for the re-release to come out at over a 50% discount. I don't see why anyone would sell a game to Gamestop for a pittance when they can sell it to their buddy for a lot more used. A pawn shop would probably pay more than Gamestop.
Anyway... I think it is silly to assume that anyone would require a broadband Internet connection in order to play games on a console. That's just silly to cut that much market out.
And what precedent in history have you seen that would make you believe this?
They will still be overpriced, locked into the walled garden and the secondary market will be eradicated. Thinking otherwise is just falling into the trap that has already been laid with other eBooks.
Win for publisher, fail for students. Apple is just a profit machine for content creators and evidently there are a lot of suckers who believe otherwise.
I've traveled there on business and agree. Very impressive low-cost for access infrastructure. It is good they are being heavy handed with the cellular carriers though - the prices for international roaming are robbery there and forces people onto VOIP if they are working temporarily in the country.
You can opt out of any and all location services in the system's settings and on first install on Android. I am assuming it actually does if you click 'No'.
I hired a 60+ year old and I turned 30 this year. I even got approval to hire him on the same level as I since he was a contractor. I think age-ism is definitely out there, but true professionals look at the facts.
People want to see Win8/Metro - it will be the same UI across all MS stuff backed by the cloud. It will be interesting to see it all tied together in one place.
Desktop synching is obsolete. That is the whole point of Android. You don't sync with a desktop period. A USB connection just allows you to do USB Debugging or mounting storage. "Real phones" don't sync to a desktop at all.
I would guess that marriage is actually a construct to limit the creation of "illegitimate" children with reckless abandon and make it more attractive economically (and morally for the religious) for a man to settle down with a family. Imagine if there was no such thing as marriage when women had no equal rights? We would live in an anarchy.
The question is -- have we evolved enough to properly foster a civil society without the concept of marriage at all - which if you boil it down - is a way to control the male instinct to procreate unabashedly?
Yes the fad are Agile teams that all sit next to one another... but people tend to forget you will be down 1 FTE regularly because you all sneeze and cough on each other. Sickness runs rampant in those rooms... particularly if you have someone who is not hygienic in the group.

Obviously a troll that has gotten out of hand, but,
On the news recently your government is seeming to force the closure of many coffee shops and brothels and force them deeper into the red light district, citing 'criminal elements.'
There's quite a CCTV, speed cameras, and speed measuring devices installation which has the underpinnings of a surveillance society.
Race and race relations are not great there, and there are many news articles and posts about that -- including this one ( a bit old but still relevant, this is a law focused on restricting freedom of expression and religious belief and are even extending it to campuses.)
A law like this would be directly against the US Constitution.
Also it has the 8th highest taxation rate/GDP ratio which I consider oppressive.
While on an individual basis it seems you can do whatever you want to kill yourself, there are some issues as a 'free society' just as in the United States that you guys are dealing with.

The EU is not a country. If it were a country and the members were states - the EU would be in a lot better shape than it is now.

Map as a drive. No client needed. Done.
