    My dad used an XT clone for his normal, daily use home computer from the early 80's to around 2005. Eventually he bought a used Dell that lasted him the rest of his life in order to be able to send and receive email.

    As an engineer working for a company that rhymes with bored, this is a disaster of biblical proportions for VW. Ive already heard people calling them smokeswagons and having a hard time reselling, but its important to remeber that this could have happened to any automotive manufacturer with a lapse in conscience.

    And nobody seems to be saying anything about the Bored Bocus that does the exact same thing.

    Atmospheric effects like fog machines and hazers are why you can see them in Laser tag.

    You can see the ones in the Egypt videos because they're just really powerful. Far more powerful that what is legally available in the USA without a variance.

    Due Process is the magic term.

    No, Insurrection Act is the magic term. The President has the authority to use the military as needed to "suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition...that--
    (A) so hinders the execution of the laws of a State or possession, as applicable, and of the United States within that State or possession, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State or possession are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or
    (B) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws."

    The Insurrection Act (w/ 2006 amendments) however does in fact authorize use of military force in certain circumstances:
    "(1) The President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to--
    (A) restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that--
    (i) domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order; and
    (ii) such violence results in a condition described in paragraph (2); or
    (B) suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition described in paragraph (2).
    (2) A condition described in this paragraph is a condition that--
    (A) so hinders the execution of the laws of a State or possession, as applicable, and of the United States within that State or possession, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State or possession are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or

    With 0.3-0.6% of GDP directly attributed to Apple and its basically unlimited funds for lobbying (bribing) politicians,

    Except Apple spends 1/10th as much as Google does on lobbying and doesn't have a Political action committee to funnel money to politicians like how Google does.

    your lovely (US) government cannot afford letting them lose their current market cap - it would harm whole market and trigger an avalanche of failing pension funds (lots of them also heavily invested into Apple itself) which in turn would bite government crooks in their lazy asses.

    Because that really stopped antitrust cases against Microsoft in the 90's.

    But CD, DAT, and the stereo PCM option for DVD-Video all use uncompressed audio.

    Yeah, but most music is mixed in at least 24bit/96kHz these days. CDs have to dither to 16/44.1 which either requires truncation or psychoacoustic noise shaped dithering.

    A kill switch lets people know that it has been flipped. Things stop functioning entirely, and the net "routes around it".

    Why not instead use a "congestion switch" to slow down traffic to a point where government created misinformation can be spread in real time to achieve whatever goals the government wants?

    IDK, they did give me a near top of the line Mac Pro when my liquid cooled G5 sprung a leak several years outside the warranty period.

    And they also gave me a new laptop for 75% off several years back just because my previous one had required several repairs, which were all at their expense.
