I feel like i've been sleeping for months, all of a sudden this is all hitting the fan? What, will we all have to run some Hurd variant soon to be fully compliant?
But that was my point, if they *had* systems like these (you state they do) then I'd *pay* to play those, but I don't pay to play today's games because they don't have the allure that the old ones do. thus; old games in a Mame cabinet = $ while new games = 0
Mod me down if you wish, but your post proves my arguement.
how is this -1 Funny? I really don't care about my score, but I think my point was valid; *IF THEY WERE ABLE* to run MAME cabinets (ie- for profit), then they'd make money. I'd pay to play those old games on a nice MAME cabinet, but I would not pay to play the new games of today. mark me as 'redundant' if you want, but I thought this was a good point.
This is a timely topic, as the Gentoo Weekly Newsletter (GWN) had the following information today:
Gentoo growing in popularity
According to this article[1] on InternetNews, Netcraft's January survey counted over 24,000 Gentoo installations on active web servers, showing almost 20% growth over 6 months. Also, as we've reported in the past, Gentoo has been getting more and more recognition from various sources recently - while Gentoo Linux did not win the award, it was a finalist for a Product Excellence Award at LWE 2004[2], and has been featured in publications like Linux Journal[3] and Linux Weekly News[4]. Here's a shout out to all the developers and community members who keep making Gentoo great.
...or look at XFCE4, it's the most IMO. if you *need* KDE you'll have to compile all the BLOAT that comes with it. Trust me, you don't *need* it, so if you want it, you'll just have to live with it compiling for 4 days.
sorry to be a Gentoo fanboy, but if you had Gentoo, the command 'emerge sdl-mixer' would get and install it for you.

Play a noobie server of Return To Castle Wolfenstein. there are plenty out there, and it comes with PunkBuster installed - play a server with that on it, and you should be clear of cheaters. plus, the game is damn fun, and if you're new you can play as a MEDIC and follow around/help out/learn the objective.
I'm not biting, I'm looking at upgrading my 1.2 Gig AMD to some 2.something Gig P4 or AMD. Why not? They're cheap (under 400) plus they'll keep up for more time than you'd think. When will we really _need_ 64bits on the desktop? I don't see it for another 2 years.
I expected as much since we never saw the release of Half-Life. I've retired my Windows boxes, and I'm done with dual-booting. I still have RTCW running great, and can play my buddy, who is running it on OS X. I'll stick with that, unless I have to run HL2, and then I'll try WineX, but it's not the solution I'd like.
it's just trendy, I had a phone with internet access on it, and I grew out of it in about a week. I don't have it on my current phone, but I have some terrible games that I only played to insure they were bad. really, I just want a phone that works, and doesn't hang up on people. all the other stuff is just advertising gimmicks.
reminds me of the time I upgraded my daughter's cdrom drive in her iMac B. yeah, opened it up, swapped the drives and closed it up. I had 3 screws left over. hmmm...

If they were able to run MAME cabinets with all of our fav games from the 80's, then they'd make some coins.

hmmm...I'm not going to touch that one, sounds too much like some spam related email I got the other day...

will there be a Linux version finally? (perhaps that could be some of the mystery?)
I would buy it, if it was out for Linux.
