  1. 1997 and still one implentation on Apple Releases Rendezvous As Open Source · · Score: 2

hate to burst your little bubble but rendezvous is based on standard RFCs dating to 1997. Sorry, but I don't have particular numbers handy but it is easy enough to look up.

As to the license: welll, IMHO GPL is severely flawed, and I personally, prefer the BSD license.

great people submit RFC's all the time....

to actually get it to move forward you need it to be deployed

and I am sorry to say apple you cant do it on your own you need the BSD, linux and little device OEM's to take it up

its simple put the code under BSD and people actually have an referance much like you use the BSD code for referance when building a IPv6 into Mach kernel

    4) release code to world under BSD
    5) sell more mac's because they work best with printers/gateways (find automagically)

(photoshop is a carbon app and has lots of PowerPC asm still in the mac version)

2/you would have to have an emulator not only for PowerPC but all the OS interfaces much like running VMware with the whole OS
(although VMware approach is of emulating the whole machine you could shortcut it as you only have limited amount to emulate)

3/ the back catalog of hardware that you have like the apple system controller + gigabit NIC ASIC would have to have serious work not just a tweak

so whats really going to happen then smarty pants ?

apple tweaks the system controller for either RapidIO or IBM interface depending on supplier
(you get the real thing which matters in computing BANDWIDTH )

they have a seperate level 3 cache that apple can mess around with to get extra performance and so sell differant machines at differant price points
