The only games I've found on Steam that have any DRM are Source-based games, in that you can't run them without running Steam (though you can run them in offline mode). Everything else can just be launched from the .exe like normal, all Steam provides is a Library system (like Media players do for music and video)

Hell, some games you can buy WONT run from Steam, especially if they have a launcher programme that needs admin rights (like Fallen Earth or APB)

You're worried about achievements spoiling the plot of WoW when there's a great big statue in the middle of Dalaran that plays the LK Kill cinematic?

Also, remember Crusaders Colloseum's final boss? In the achievements it's just listed as "Complete the Crusaders Colloseum" or something similar. It doesn't say "Defeat xxxx" (honestly I don't know why I'm preserving spoilers from three patches ago, other than the sense of irony I'd get for spoiling the plot in a post about not spoiling the plot)

So the real question is, by doing a full game in flash, what are you limiting yourself?

well.. flash is expensive to make

I agree, it's around £400 for the full CS4 and £550 for CS5. You can however buy CS3 for under £100, which is good enough to make flash games (I've been using it for years before we upgraded to CS4). However, £100 for a better dev environment is better than hand rolling your own in dreamweaver or the like.

is not flexible to add content.

What? If you know what you're doing you can make some decently modular engines. Content is simple and easy to update, you can load in external files and use them as configs. You can load in other .SWFs into a parent one and seperated loading, content and engine.

Is also designed (mostly) for the fullscreen thing, read... most flash websites avoid the scroll bar.

Again what? Have you ever been to newgrounds? Okay, I admit there's alot of tripe on there but little or none of it forces you fullscreen, and what's all this nonsense about a scrollbar?

Virgin have better tech, but utterly shash customer service. Not only are they outsourced to India and about 50% of the time you speak to someone uninteligible, they're also not allowed to deviate from a set script, so when you have a complex problem you just have to keep shouting at them until they pass you to someone who can actually help you.
Compound this with my tech-unsavvy gran who has a terrible time when something unusual pops up on her screen (ie, Films on demand selection screen showing over BBC1) and I'm not anywhere to help her, she ends up having to call their help number and just ends up getting frustrated. Honestly, they were going to send her out a brand new box because she doesn't know that pressing "TV" will clear whatever is on her screen, and their script doesn't cover crap like that.

The problem is that the only viable alternative to Flash is Canvas.
Internet Explorer doesn't support it except through a plugin
Firefox supports it, but it's about 70% the speed of Chrome
Chrome supports it, runs it the fastest (as far as I can tell anyway) but it's still about half as fast (Atleast) as an equivalent thing made in Flash.

Javascript needs a serious kick up the arse from where it is now to even think of taking on Flash. It also needs a decent Developer GUI that can be handled by Artists (like Flash has)

I love Canvas, and I love Javascript. But for ease of use, and for rapid development, I use Flash.
Also, AS3 has a much better custom class syntax than JS that's much more similar to C++/C#.
