Is this really the best timing for this? We're having an election in a few weeks time, and who knows whether we'll even have the same government after that?
Also, Victorians, remember to vote below the line and put Conroy last if you want to make a statement about the Internet Censorship Plan. Sites like http://www.belowtheline.org.au/ will help you prepare your below the line vote with a minimum of work.
However, if people who are voting e.g. Greens are also putting Conroy last - that will definitely make the Labor strategists take note (and hopefully discard the policy altogether).
It would be an even stronger statement to only put Conroy last, not all of the Labor candidates. That way there is no doubt whatsoever what you're voting against.
If I was into phishing I'd build such a CD (pre-set to my spoofed bank site of course) right away and mass-mail it out to everyone with instructions on how to use it. Pick a big bank and you should get enough hits to make it worthwhile the CD printing cost!
Or, how about let's not do this? Technical "solution", social problem. Good luck...
Like I said, I'm probably being naive and thinking clients will be logical.:-o
One thing I learned from dealing with VCs in my previous job is that, and I quote, "logic has nothing to do with it". This was also in relation to a legal agreement... As a techie, all I can say is that business people do not make sense:)
Amen. I was actually going to RTFA, but my NoScript just showed a big blocked element on that page, with nothing to read. Why did that abomination even get to the/. frontpage?
He has however stated that if the public consultation results in overwhelming support in favour of it, he might reconsider.
If you're in.au - consider downloading and filling in the feedback template and email it back. It'll take 10 minutes of your time. The think-about-the-children zombie horde will obviously spend their individual 10 minutes piping up against it, so if we want to have a chance at getting some sanity, we the.au geeks, nerds, gamers and other sensible people need to do our part. I already have.
That's going to be difficult. Would you want to live on titan?
If you'd asked me before I settled down, I'd probably have volunteered. For many people there aren't that many ties that hold them here, and the opportunity to go and be at the forefront of space exploration, to boldly go where no man has gone before, well, that's really exciting and worthwhile! Personally I find people like Armstrong and Aldrin tremendously inspiring. Of course, I'm also finding the engineers behind the Mars rovers really inspiring too. Space is still new and novel and has a high amount of "wow" attached to it. There is new stuff to be discovered. Completely new experiences to be had. I mean, come on, how could you not want to, assuming you had no personal ties holding you back?
I get this at times too. Over the years I've come to realize that what it really indicates is that I don't actually know what to code. Oh, I think I do, as in, I have a good idea of what I want the result to be. What I don't know is the path to get there. Put quite simply, the feature I want to implement is too big to just "wing" on the fly, because it feels intimidating.
If I sit down and take the time to actually design it and break it up into smaller components it becomes more manageable, and as a result it's no longer intimidating. With that out of the way, I regain the "spark" to want to sit down and get it done. Don't know if this will help you, but it certainly works for me.

> The B52 is but the bomb isn't and is statically linked
Hang on, wouldn't that imply you'd need a kamikaze pilot for the B52?! Surely you'd want dynamic linking of the payload!
I'd happily swap the public housing high rise next block over for a nuclear plant...
I think a better word to describe Apple's behavior would be "Douche"...
Maybe, though that is open for debate.

That the first thing I thought when I read he licenses it all under Creative Commons was "Bet ASCAP would be pissed about that".
Am I the only who reads that acronym as Ass-Cap?
Dude, I know what's on goatse.fr - you're not going to trick me by adding a sub-domain and a directory name!
I would just like to say
There is no cow level
Jeff Dunham rocks :)
Or wasn't that meant to be an Achmed reference?

If you mod me down, I will become more powerful than you can imagine....
I'd like to put this to the test, but first I will have to source some outside funding of mod points. It's all in the name of SCIENCE! =D
No, it raises the question. Begging the question is quite different.

Also, exercising makes me fucking hungry.
Really? I'm finding that I'm anything but hungry when I come home from training. Thirsty, yes. Hungry, no.
I have an .ost file on my laptop you insensitive MS clods.
In Swedish, a .ost file would imply that you have a .cheese file. Maybe it's a really cheesy format?
Especially when it disables the friggen "uninstall" button!
If you're new to slashdot, don't bother reading the article. Especially in this case, where the article is already contained in the summary here.
And Who's on first, right?
I don't know, but he's on third, right?

I'd be in real trouble if you ever used them!
Inconceivable!
