Classrooms won't be obsolete though for quite a long time though, because I doubt listening to a lecture on an iPod will give you a better experience than being in a lecture hall. We will use classrooms until they have helmets that we can put on and be given the info we need for life.

In school, we had a trademark infringement lawyer come speak to us during computer science telling us how bad it was to illegally download music movies and such. But now as I read this, since there is no where to buy these movies piracy seems like the only option.

I'm glad Slashdot is here to educate me.

  22. Oh common... on German Police Union Chief Wants Violent Game Ban After Shooting · · Score: 5, Informative

Seriously? This is completely ridiculous. There is no way that just video games alone made this person go on a shooting rampage. Several studies by groups such as Harvard Medical, The Journal of Adolescent Health, and the British Medical Journal have shown that there is no conclusive link between video games and violent activities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_controversy). These people don't think that uhm...the media for instance has anything to do with it? Let's get real here people. There is no way playing some Far Cry 2 or any game like it alone contributes to the initiative to do violent things.

For me, video games are a great way to relax after a long day. It's an unwinding period and I don't feel violent at all when playing. I'm not alone saying this, there are many others who feel exactly the same way. The German police chief should look at the facts and statistics before he jumps the gun.

    Just my two cents.

On the scenario of the working environment. Here's two examples.

Buisness: Your boss isn't going to want to dish out the money for a mac. Especially when your buying these machines in high quantities. Most would go for the Dell Vostro buisness series. It makes sense.

Home: Home is a different situation and it comes down to how much dough you have to dish out. If you have the money, buying a mac will be the better choice. But with the way the economy is, I don't see many people wanting to pay that extra 500 or whatever...even if it's going to give you a much better quality computer.

    Something to think about.
