Unfortunately, while we have educated users and created worthy (and better) compiteroes to Internet Explorer, the same has not been done for Adobe's Flash/PDF, or Java.

Seriously, how many more exploits and system owning do we need to do before we can be free of Adobe's so called 'Portable Document', and its CPU hogging, desktop crashing, bug ridden, crackers best wet dream, craptastic software???

nothing good would come from Nokia and Microsoft teaming up. When Nokia 'open-sourced' Symbian, they expected a large following of open-source developers to code their flagship mobile OS. It didn't happen; so now their running back behind closed doors like a whiny little kid taking back their toy. Hint: Nokia, it takes more than saying your code is open-source, for people to want to actively code it. For starters, how about making it even a fraction as easy or possible to compile as some other OS kernel.

I don't have a lot of spare free time to sit down and watch the videos. I would LOVE it if Khan Academy would release the lessons as understandable lecture/ audio podcasts as well. This way one could just listen to the material instead of needing the visual cues as well. I understand a lot of the subject matter can't be easily explained without visual cues, but right now if you where to just take the audio from the videos...you'd be lost as to what's going on. Podcasts please, not just a release of the youtube videos.

  17. Re:It will stay small on Windows vs. Ubuntu — Dell's Verdict · · Score: 2, Interesting

One of the 'reasons' Ubuntu (or any Linux) distro won't become a major player in the consumer OS market, is because it is not SOLD in the consumer OS market. Linux will become more of a mainstream desktop/laptop consumer choice (key word, choice) when you can drive down to the 'big box' store and buy a computer pre-loaded with Linux on it. Until then, the majority of people will use windows, not necessarily because it's easier, or better, but because that is what was SOLD to them. For the casual user, Windows == my computer. Period.
