Well that's a little inaccurate for the simple reason that things like studios, logistics, post, travel, etc. are all part of the "production" budget that you quoted at 100MM. The rest of it comes down to things like marketing, making prints for theaters, distribution fees, marketing, advertising, etc. but the principles laid out above are the same.
...but I really do hope that if Net Neutrality passes, that Google creates a nationwide free wireless network to combat it. Now I'm not saying that one monopoly is better than the other, I just like watching cable companies get F****d.
Honestly though, ANY and EVERY company tries to give the impression that their products are better in some fashion, that's kind of a principal of business. I think what you meant is that Apple has the perception of being better in some fashion like you listed (design, style, etc.) in which case the end user expects more because they are "supposed to be better."
Is it that there are so many problems per capita, or just that the company is so high-profile?
To me, it's arguable that these are no different than the other problems Dell or HP/Compaq have, there's just a somewhat higher profile when it's a Mac. Granted, no transition is seamless, and I know that there are a good number of people that are having issues, but I haven't spoken or interacted with anyone who's said that any issues they are having would make them rethink their buying decision.
I'd much rather him take on the RIAA as they seem to be the more aggressive of the two when it comes to extortion schemes. The MPAA, for all it's faults, doesn't seem to be as gleefully entertained by the prospect of suing the pants off of everyone.
Hey, thanks for the attack, it's much appreciated. Considering that my first computer was a Mac Plus and I've literally used them my entire computing life, it's really nice to know that you feel the need to be bitchy to people who have switched. Great way to include everyone; being exclusive.
But if you'd like your eye candy open source and downloadable now...
Now I understand the Slashdot bias, but some of us are just genuinely interested in the progression of computing; and yes, a new version of Windows qualifies. Not EVERY article needs to be an ad for Linux. Yes, I tried it, and yes it was neat. That's...well, that's pretty much it. I'm still going to use a Mac, I'm still going to dual-boot Windows when needed, and I'm still going to be interested in occasionally reading articles that don't mention Linux whenever the words "operating system" appear...
When buying electronics from machines that are barely passable for distributing candy, make sure not to be surprised when your 300 dollar electronics don't work because they've been dropped from a height of four feet.
Every time the New York Times or the Washington Post leaks about some secret program that is used in the war on terror, therefor invalidating it, I wonder to myself if they will take responsibility for the next terrorist attack.
God Forbid the terrorists be blamed for the attacks. Much better to use the fear of terrorism to fight against whatever political beliefs you disagree with, right?
Lord knows I've made a few mistakes myself. If there was a "-1, unintelligable" moderation, I'd have to post under AC just to have people understand me. I just figured it was funny due to the communicative nature of the comment. No harm intended.
Reservation...as with most topics that involve personal tracking, and large corporations having access to personal information (and yes, I consider my mood personal information when it's being used to a company's advantage).
they may even replace your MBP with a new one. That's nice, what do I have to do to get them to replace my 3 year old iBook with a new Mac Book Pro? That's infinitely more interesting to me;)
Ah, you sound like an i-tard to me, locked into a losers format.
Did you buy your new car because it has an i-pod slot?
I'll bet you did..
Normally I'm a fan of not feeding the trolls, but I'd like to point this one out real quick. Notice the aggression, the name-calling, and the clear and obvious distain for anything that might be considered "popular." This is known as the "emo troll." Naturally congregating on places such as Myspace.com and Friendster, they tend to amass as many friends as possible to show that they don't care what people think about them. To an emo troll, counter-culture is cool, despite how mainstream that sentiment is. They rally against anything that someone else has heard of, eventually being known to claim they listen to bands which haven't actually formed yet. Truthfully though, they rock out to Fall Out Boy and old school hip-hop when no one is around to catch them. They are also known colloquially as "Poseurs" and "a bit of an asshole, really."
That being said, yeah, I've had an iPod since they had scroll wheels, and having been collecting music since I was in college, I've got a bit of it to carry about. And being that I'm looking into getting a new car, an iPod slot would be nice. I'm sorry if I'm not as "cool" as you, but sometimes I just want to drive around and listen to whatever music I like, without consulting you first. I'll do the same with my computer, my car, and whatever device I choose to connect them. Have a nice day though, I'm sure your swoopy longish bangs get all the friend invites on myspace. =)
Unless it syncs with my iPod, I really don't have much use for it. Honestly, that's where my music listening is done, not in my office at my computer...

You're going to need a lot higher number than just "III" there buddy...

We may be the only two people on /. that have ever seen that movie...
Regardless, it made me laugh. A lot.

Yeah....uh...That's my bad.

Looks like the commies are going to get owned.

Man, they've sure taught you well haven't they...

I know a pirate that could totally kick his ass...

Had I modpoints, I would mod you in a manly fashion.
Cause I'm pretty?
Cause you're pretty.
Oh Geez, just because you don't get the reference, doesn't mean it's offtopic!
Why do people even buy first generation products anymore? Why not just wait until the 2nd or 3rd generation when these problems are weeded out?
Because if no one buys the first generation, there isn't any second or third generation to buy...

Um...What??????
Can using a book as a research source be considered copyright infringement when you cite said work as a source?
What about a Blackberry-esque scroll wheel? Elegant, keeps fingers off, still allows for the same filesystem...Makes sense to me.
