As of today, Honda is number 2, Ford is number three, and Diamler Chrysler is either #4 or 5. I did not hear the words used for Toyota except they still are making the #1 car in the USA. GM is #1 of course.
I wonder what HEMOS called those cards that were needed to supply pictures for CGA (Cool Graphics Adapter) back in the early '80s. Wait! That's when about half of you guys were born!
I was wondering what brand to buy. I bought Belkin but took it back to OfficeMax mainly because they sold me a cable router that did not have a Belkin rebate. (The claimed they had worked it out with Belkin.) This was the third rebate problem with them - no more. Now I have an even better reason to stay away from both Belkin and OfficeMax.
I am a power supply design engineer among other things. (no guessing!) Please don't use words like "Flare", Burn-In, or "Let's fire it up!" when you are talking to me. At 220 volts and 10 amps, those are very unwelcome words.
Actually, the stores around here seem to just give a card. If you forget one, you can ask them to use theirs, or just fill out a form on the spot for a new one. They scan the card in the store and never do anything else with it. (That's what I am told.)
Face it guys; all the arguments in the world cannot change peoples opinions about some subjects. The presidential election was very close everywhere, and recounting Florida or some other state could have easily changed the outcome.
The only clear outcome was that there was not a clear outcome. --- When things are so close that the ballot counting errors can determine the election, we learn that a problem exists. The real winner is the American public who will have a much more closely monitored ballot system next time. There will still be errors, but not so much.
It's unfortunate that most of our politicians follow the leader like Lemmings. I welcome evenly divided legislative bodies at both the federal and state level. It keeps either party from become overly foolish for very long.
At this point, GWB is our president and the republican party has a slight majority. If you cannot pick out both good and bad legislation passed by them, just consider yourself biased, conservative and close-minded regardless of your political affiliation.
And thank God that we live in a country where we can have this bantering. (or thank the devil if you do not agree with me - ha!)
This is interesting, but seems to be very little more than a companies advertisement for a product built for multi-applications and is a little off-beat for the usual non-commercial Slashdot article. Robot usage probably was not the original intent, but that is just my opinion.
Although they have an impressive set of hardware specs, and could have used any X86 embedded processor, the controller seems to be someone's expensive golf cart controller set in a new application. Perhaps the most interesting thing is the 125 amps with no fan, but that is common on golf carts (and maybe Segway).
My local grocery store (Kroger) includes an advertising discount coupon for a competitor when certain items are purchased. I am sure that in the USA, if it were to become illegal on the internet, a number of companies would have to stop the coupons for competitors.
I wonder if this is also common practice in France and grocery stores or other businesses.
You sound like a guy I had work for me some few years ago. Fully capable of doing his job, but was afraid to make a decision. Always deferred to a fellow worker for decisions. However, if anyone disagreed with something he said or did, he was convinced that it was because of his race, and never accepted that fact that someone had an idea different from his. He, unwittingly, was the only racist in the group.
Next time, keep your comment short enough so that if you really have something to say, people will take time to read it.
This is a software problem, not an alcohol problem! And some ignoramus has no idea what AA is! This could happen in any industry, and for those of you who have never worked with JIT, it means placing an order far enough ahead so that the product arrives just before you run out of inventory; sometimes weeks in advance.
The real question here is "How do you test software to simulate a real world system without putting it on the system and then finding problems?"
This sounds lousy at first, and in terms of giving SCO more working money, it probably is. However, if IBM or another large company were to buy SCO, then they could win big. Let's keep an eye on these guys.
As a hardware design engineer, some facts are: The lifetime of a uP is based on the temperature of the silicon chip and hot spots on the chip. ---- Keeping the package cool with a good fan/heatsink so the temperature rise of the chip is only a few degrees will keep the chip alive for longer than you want to count. ----Power Cycling and its thermal cycling effect also reduces life, but you can expect the power switch to wear out long before the processor has a failure. You can also expect the power supply itself to have thermal shock failures long before the processor or other ICs. Remember, the low-voltage-reset (an internal circuit) keeps the processor from running during power up or down cycles so the effect is almost purely due to sudden heating and cooling as mentioned in the previous post.
I had written a long reply to tell you why the faster will always have a greater demand than the low power and somewhat slower chips, but my battery ran down before I could get it sent.
I still have a working 8086 original XT with two 5.25 floppys and cassette interface and B/W monitor. I also have a working (I think still) ST506, 5MB HDD, and ST412 10MB HDD. My oldest working computer is a MC6800 eval kit with hex input machine code; LED display. 'course, I'm a packrat - first class!
Let's see now! (5 x 10) is a factor of 10. (5) x (1x10^1) is a... Wait.. Hold up 5 fingers on the left hand and 1 finger on the right. Now.. wait.. I'm still confused, say it again!
PLUG-IN REQUIRED: This program requires a FLASH plug-in in order to display properly. These type programs are protected by software patents and cannot be loaded automatically by Internet Explorer. You will be alerted each time one of these plug-ins is needed so that you can allow or not allow it to be used. A YES will allow the program to proceed.
In order to automate the process, Microsoft provides a short program which allows you to automatically enter a YES whenever Internet Explorer asks for permission to load and use a FLASH plugin.
If you would like to have your computer automatically enter a YES whenever one of these FLASH type plugins are needed check the YES block below.
Don't know where, but if you go back and read all the slashdot related articles for the past year, you will find the original article where Lexmark was using something from the DMCA as their reason for the court case. Patents? Can't help you there.
Always got low grades in penmanship (yes, they once gave grades for that in elementary and Jr. High) and found it nearly impossible to keep letters at the right slant and height, and, the same distance from the baseline. If I wrote, I could hardly read it 6 months later so I have printed most of my career. My daughter and grandson both write exactly like me. Is poor penmanship genetic?
Can't sleep: Tooth fairy takes tooth. Mom told me there was an arm fairy.
The point is that SCO has been claiming that they were not aware of UNIX code included with the open source code when they released it under GPL, and therefore they now claim that they are not violating the GPL by re-claiming code ownership. When SGI released code and did not intend it to be in the Linux kernal, SCO wants to sue for damages instead of allowing SGI to use the same excuse that SCO used under similar circumstances. Hope that's clearer.

By the way, what do the groceries do with that information?
It's about time someone finally did something that made sense in this messed up DCMA ruling.
I have searched and found there are a number of them on the net. And you don't have to get pr0n if you search for "fine art"!
Go to to get specific instructions and information about new.net and a removal procedure.

Is the mod crew asleep? I can't believe this did not get modded as funny!
First time my two year old killed the VCR I took the case off and gave her a screwdriver and pliars. Then I plugged it back in!
Alright, so its not very funny, so what? It's late!
