I gave up a promising career in chemistry when they hired an East Indian PHD for 35k a year to work in the hood next to me. (this was in the early 90s)
Soon after I left the plant was closed down and manufacturing moved to another country.
I have noticed huge differences in UI responsiveness in chrome compared to FF. The difference was enough to make me switch and I have been using FF for years.
I don't think anyone planning this project ever believes that this chemical laser will make it into service(the logistics are horrible)- however the aiming and mirroring systems will and solid state lasers should 'snap in'
I always thought it would be a good idea to use a copper strap to connect the cpu heatsink to the case which would act as a huge heatsink. Has anyone tried this?
Being poor is most likely to shorten your life expectancy and we have gutted most of the manufacturing in our rural communities. I suspect this has more to do with these areas life expectancy than government funding, education or anything else.
I have had the JVM crap out on me multiple times when programming in JAVA- I have never encountered a failure or SINGLE runtime bug in .NET.

What we need is decent paying jobs for scientists in the United States- not popularity.
Pixar started incorporating DOF in their movies long ago.....
Analysis of virus DNA has suggested the viruses evolved from bacterium- quite different than the genesis of a prionic disease.

Maybe you are thinking of veal pens.
There are all kinds of ways to farm cattle. Here in New Mexico they are allowed to graze on multi-thousand acre ranches.
Who knows what side effects may show in these animals? Tromping down fences- or perhaps a fearlessness that would be dangerous to farmers.
I would bet the game plan is to replace the coil laser with solid state as they become available.
This was the power of the aiming laser, not the main laser.

This money was used to modify an existing system (ABL) to shoot at ground targets.
Except that instead of pulling your hair out to get it fixed you get to complain about it on slashdot.
Perhaps you know my brother? He has been doing a lot of this stuff.

The images are stunning and I congratulate IBM for their efforts.
I certainly feel a bit gray during the long winter month- I tend to think depression is a way that man could survive through long dark winters.
I am not really proposing this for overclocking, just something simple that keeps you cpu cool enough so you don't need a fan.
I always thought it would be a good idea to use a copper strap to connect the cpu heatsink to the case which would act as a huge heatsink. Has anyone tried this?
That would make you open to a civil suit, but as I said not illegal.
So what? Regardless of what his intentions were if he didn't sell or give away the code to anyone he didn't commit a crime.
I do agree that it looks pretty bad but the only way we are going to get 'there' is by pushing the envelope.
Safety nets become hammocks.
