Even the weather channel is in on this... insted of showing the weather when you want it they show 'storm stories'. They do anything to keep you from getting the info you want so you stay tuned.
Other channels need to trim the number of ads from their shows, how many times have you watched a movie and they stretch the last 10 minutes over a half hour? The only time I watch a movie on tv now is if I am stuck in a hotel room.
I burned out too a couple years ago. I would come back to work after vaction and say OMG I can't believe that I sit here all day. I was much happier as a chemist, always on my feet doing interesting stuff. Too bad the chem industry went down the tubes in the US.
Ok, so if the group is not political how about referencing a analysis of the Clinton administration? Some of the stuff that Gore says goes way beyond anything science supports.
We went (chemists) through this pain when the wall went down in eastern Europe. I knew Indian PHDs making 35K in New Jersey. One of the Harvard PHD chemists I worked with is overseeing a job mixing paints. Do a little research before you think the grass is greaner.
So I toss a slur across her desk. I call her a protectionist.
"Oh, and I'm proud of it," she responds. "I wear that badge with honor. I am a protectionist. I want to protect America. I want to protect jobs for Americans."
"But isn't part of this country's vitality its ability to make these kinds of changes?" I counter. "We've done it before - going from farm to factory, from factory to knowledge work, and from knowledge work to whatever's next."
She looks at me. Then she says, "I'd like to know where you go from knowledge."
I find this hard to believe. The creative part of sotware requires a client relationship similar to advertising- you need to have a pulse on a client that only comes from being there, fully immersed in the culture. I expect creative outsourcing to happen when Jaguar hires an Indian advertising firm for their car campaign.
Cable companies are FOS about satellites, if you go to the central cable station you will see that they get all their feeds by satellite and are vulnerable to inclement weather. Why pay a middleman?
Blecckkkk!

Remember when Microsoft helped commoditize hardware in the 90? IBM can now get their revenge by commoditizing the operating system.
my 5 year old thinkpad 366 disagrees! paid 200$ for it off ebay
reminds of that old portable kaypro i had...
I said it. Computers are BORING. Sitting in front of a monitor all day is a chore in itself. Is this stress?
I live in an area with neither cable or dsl. I am 10 minutes outside of albuquerque new mexico
Yeah but some IT guy is going to be buying a computer for this dope to use on the companies network.
I got my previous job on dice.com
My current job came from a 'new mexico technology' board
The world is a more dangerous place? There has been more peace in the world since WW2 than in any period in the last 1000 years.

Lying takes alot of effort, trying to remember all of your bullshit you told people. I'm too lazy to lie.
I have found a way to turn beer into piss

I hate to say it but programming in a non-compiling non-typed language is just as irritating to a beginner as it is to an advanced programmer.
I never understood why typing is supposedly such a difficult concept for beginners.

120'? try 12', and they are big because they are c-band. I don't give a shit about snow, a sufficiently dense rain cloud blocks the signal.

Those Republicans again... until somebody comes up with some evidence that senior party members were involved it seems pretty trivial to me.
If somebody comes up with an email from GWB to leak the memos than maybe you can start drawing Watergate parallels.....
For carpal tunnel relief try one of the old IBM tumbling-spring keyboards. They're noisy but good!
You are allowed to cut a magazine up and paste the pictures (or ads) on the wall. You can do anything you want for private use.
