    Even the weather channel is in on this... insted of showing the weather when you want it they show 'storm stories'. They do anything to keep you from getting the info you want so you stay tuned.

    Other channels need to trim the number of ads from their shows, how many times have you watched a movie and they stretch the last 10 minutes over a half hour? The only time I watch a movie on tv now is if I am stuck in a hotel room.

    I burned out too a couple years ago. I would come back to work after vaction and say OMG I can't believe that I sit here all day. I was much happier as a chemist, always on my feet doing interesting stuff. Too bad the chem industry went down the tubes in the US.

    We went (chemists) through this pain when the wall went down in eastern Europe. I knew Indian PHDs making 35K in New Jersey. One of the Harvard PHD chemists I worked with is overseeing a job mixing paints. Do a little research before you think the grass is greaner.

    I hate to say it but programming in a non-compiling non-typed language is just as irritating to a beginner as it is to an advanced programmer.

    I never understood why typing is supposedly such a difficult concept for beginners.

    I find this hard to believe. The creative part of sotware requires a client relationship similar to advertising- you need to have a pulse on a client that only comes from being there, fully immersed in the culture.
    I expect creative outsourcing to happen when Jaguar hires an Indian advertising firm for their car campaign.

    Cable companies are FOS about satellites, if you go to the central cable station you will see that they get all their feeds by satellite and are vulnerable to inclement weather. Why pay a middleman?
