freedom of association would suggest that an airline can demand that you stand on your head first before boarding a plane. There are plenty of situations where you have to identify yourself before doing some type of transaction like buying alchol.
I actually have been doing some prototypes with.NET and found it pretty much equivalent with JAVA. The 'amazing' part of.net is when you have to do some integration with a MS Windows service like Exchange or AD. Then the advantage over JAVA is clear (sorry JNI sucks). If you aren't integrating with MS systems then I have to favor JAVA. (Because of the number of tools, libraries, and OS implementations for JAVA)
World-wide music sales dropped 5% last year, while global sales of compact-disc albums declined for the first time since CDs were launched in 1983. So far this year, U.S. music sales are down steeply from a sluggish 2001.
I suppose the music industry thinks that they are recession resistant?
I hate to feed a troll but go to any job site (hotjobs, dice) and do a search for jobs for java, and a search for.net jobs. You will get hundreds for java, and just a fraction for.net. Maybe my idea of viable = employable, I don't know about you.
It looks like microsoft is beating the pirates to the punch, giving away a bunch of software before the pirates can. This is just another PR stunt like making software 'gifts' to schools.

This does however validate the fears of non-english speaking countries that they are getting 'second-best' from propriatary vendors, one of the reasons the Chinese goverment is switching to linux.
but you know damned well the meaning of the term in the context of these discussions.
So where do you draw the line?
One might say that by abstracting ourselves out of the real world, we are able to get ourselves way out on a limb. Which we are busily sawing off on the wrong side.
This was exactly my point, I was just curious to see if someone would get it. This is really the crux of the problem, the furthur we abstract ourselves in our vinyl sided houses reading slashdot the worse it gets. Maybe our only way out is by colonizing mars, so we can pollute that too.
This is significant because most photochemical reactions have poor quantum yield. This may lead to some highly efficient solar cells, photo catylists or sensors.
Microsoft supports AMD because they want the price of the cpu to be as low as possible. Higher prices for the cpu leaves less money for the operating system.
finally those geeks will have an excuse for being smelly and unwashed...

You can substitue PHP, perl, whatever for .net in this case......

Humans do nothing that breaks the laws of nature. A skyscraper is no less 'natural' than a termite mound.

I think he meant the generation that was out having a life instead of reading comic books.
Yeah, well that was a long time ago. Mostly now it is Doctor Seuss and Thomas the Tank Engine.
I recommend "The Chemistry of Powder and Explosives" for interesting chemical reading.
Can you hook your decent used car to your computer as a display?

This is similar to the FCC rules where radio and tv stations have to identify themselves. I believe this applies to HAM operators as well.

If the bill has this wording I won't even be able to take single pictures in private without notifying someone.
