Who the heck wants to have 0 vacation days? In my case it is just PTO, so if I get sick or have some personal emergency it is good to have some kind of buffer available.
I've managed to rent and keep my kids in the best district in our area since kindergarten. We are in our 4th house now and my last one is 2 years from graduations. It's not ideal but it's possible.
People fear dented cans because it is a sign of botulism. Of course that's highly unlikely and it's probably just a dent but the irrational fear is still there.

I am a complete tab junky and never have problems with firefox.
