None exist because the government forcibly takes money, then spends in on roads. No one can compete with the power government has to confuscate money and use it as it pleases.
A co-op is the right thing to do, if you want community wifi. NOT government. Any time government gets involved:
1) you pay whether you use the service or not
2) mismanagement
3) waste
4) stupid restrictions to appease certain voting blocks
5) you're stuck with it - no business can compete, since the government gets your money, even if you use a different provider
You need to read more political sites (eg, reason.com). Statiums are the most common large scale ripoff of citizens; it truely disgusts me (and lot of other people).
So, i think i can reasonable assure you that most people against a state monopoly on wireless internet access are also against giving billions to the already very rich. (You could argue either way which is worse: state controlled internet access (and likely censorship) or stealing billions from people to give to a group of rich people.)

There is a DISadvantage to dual cores vs. two opterons. A single dual-core chip has only two ram channels, whereas an dual opteron has four (two per socket).
this country is far from raw capitalism. subsities are given out to many industries (at the expense of everyone else).
how is hiring someone "tricking" them? do you not work? if you do, why did you allow yourself to be "tricked" then? what would you suggest people do, instead of working for a living? steal? live off of welfare?
it WILL kill the power steering if the engine isn't running! power brakes and steering pumps run off of engine vaccuum. i've driven a car with power steering that died and it's very difficult to steer (though it is possible).
We've got them all over the place here - they're designed for big rigs, but a small car would be more than welcome if you had a problem like this. You drive up a steep unpaved hill into barrels of water. You stop.
i wouldn't try that at well over 100+. those runaway areas are for trucks with failed brakes, not fast cars at wide open throttle.
i have a 9200. the only thing that doesn't work (except for some 3d features) is opengl using dvi. i get display glitches and sometimes the screen blanks for one or two seconds.
Private industry will never put safty as number one priority. It's number one priority is profit.
here's a clue: make not being unsafe so expensive (or a right risk of expense) that it will be more more important than anything else.
before you suggest the government as a solution to all problems (it's more often the cause), i suggest you consider some basic economics.
In point of fact, Insurance companies should not be profitable (not counting individual employees' salaries of course).
why not?
regarding the rest of your pro-socialist post, having a car is not a necessity! there are buses and metro trains (incidently, the dc metro is a very good example of why government run businesses are a bad idea). there are also bicycles. there are lots of people in cities who don't own cars.
i have never had a seagate scsi drive fail. never. i have been using raid 0 on various 15k, 10k, and 7200rpm seagates for about 5 years. usually two drives, sometimes three drives. some of the drives were even refurbs.
i have a cronjob do daily backups to tape, in case a failure does happen.
all the complexity has me worried, too. i'm beginning to wish linux was a microkernel (a good one, like l4). i don't want an entire db in the damn kernel. a high performance, reliable, flat fs, is all i want and need.
that's a tshirt i would buy.
what about those who vote against it? the government takes their money against their will.

If it was so unfair, why did they continue to work there?
or maybe you just know your way around the room.

You haven't seen Dark City or Mememto, have you?

considering that NASCAR still uses pushrods and carbs, i doubt it.
at least f1 has right turns ;)
human engineers design the cars. you just don't see them every race. (they wouldn't fit, anyway.)
iirc, it's sold at a loss.
for each recording or season pass, you can set it to record up to 5min before and 5min after. please RTFM before proclaiming tivo can't handle it.

egr also reduces pumping losses
