  1. Re:Overkill? on New Apple iPod with Photo Capabilities · · Score: 1

I can read fine. I read several quotes from Jobs and Rubenstein that the ipod phtoto won't do video, it is the wrong device for that. What is the point of putting video on a portable device if you cannot watch it on that device? Devices already exist to stream video from your PC to your TV wirelessly (Philips Stremium, maybe others). I would think that Apple would create an equivalent device to the Streamium rather than hack some sort of half-assed video functionality into the ipod.

Well, Replay is essentially dead. D&M Holding's plans for it are to sell out the current inventory, combine with Escient, continue with premium branded products (Denon) and seek to license the software. At least this was their plan from 5/20/04, it may have changed since then. You can read their forecast here.

Netflix does not carry pr0n or import anime. They do carry domestically released anime. They also will carry UR videos such as the unrated version of requiem for a dream. I am unfamiliar with Blockbuster's service to comment on wether they carry any of this.

They used to carry softcore porn several years ago but stopped.

The definitive collection looks very good. You should be cautious however if you decide to purchase this set as it has some flaws in early pressing (several seconds of missing footage) and has a tendency to rot.

A good alternative are the THX "faces" disks. it uses the exact same print that the definitive collection uses. I haven't heard of any widespread rot problems with these. These are CLV discs so in theory the picture will be slightly worse than the definitive collection discs. Also not many extras, just an interview at the end of each film.

Well, I don't give a shit about F/OSS principles, I just want to use the card. I do hope that you tell the person you are recommending the 8500 to that you are only recommending it for ideological reasons and that an Nvidia card would actually perform much better.
