So a generation of acid heads, and stoners can record and preserve thousands of Grateful Dead concerts all why moderately crazed on mind altering drugs, while NASA spent hundreds of millions on the Apollo Program only to record over them due to a "tape shortage" ?
What doesn't add up here? Maybe Nasa should put dead heads in charge of space exploration. At least that way things will be preserved correctly. Until that happens count me in as one of the fools that think the only way the real tapes were destroyed was if they were destroyed on purpose.
Yeah, I hope succeeds until they start putting demo machines in stores with Ubuntu loaded that they know aren't working correctly and saying:
"Oh you are interested in Linux are you Well here try it. See how it doesn't work correctly? See? It doesn't have many features. See how slow it is? See how Microsoft office doesn't run on it?"
"Now look over here at Windows 7 folks. This system works and you never have to worry about anything!... yada yada"
Probably won't but still, wouldn't put it past them. For some reason snake oil salesman comes to mind. Color me jaded.
So reading this article raised a question in my mind about static electricity. We all hate getting shocked when we get in or out of our cars.
Why not try to harvest this energy by feeding the static electricity back into the batteries?
I recently bought a new Challenger SRT8 that has carbon fiber stripes, you know carbon fiber can conduct electricity, so on a hybrid car you could put the fiber stripes (maybe doped with something to even create better static electricity charges) in leading edges of the vehicle, and on the roof and hood, and trunk.
It may only produce a couple hundred volts or maybe if the carbon fiber stripes/patches were designed to produce more static charge.. even more,
What's a couple hundred volts here and there right? Well it can add up!
And then hate how they treat you like a farm animal on flights. In fact maybe the flight crew and stewardesses should begin utilizing electronic cattle prods.
Now I want some nano-bot toothpaste stuff that works during the night. Little bots that clean and brush and fill enamel whilst we sleep, and then get swallowed and dissolve in the stomach.
2:00 A.M Somewhere on a lonely street near the outskirts of Des Moines.
Mom: "Hello" Me: "Mom, uh mom, I know it is late but.." Mom: "Oh hi honey..." Me: "Hey Mom, do you remember those sincere times when you tearfully told me to quit playing with myself and stop using so much water back in the day and how no good would come of it?" Mom: "Honey.. It was in your best interest..."
Pause for dramatic effect, a little static on the line, the sound of dad snoring and breathing heavy..
Me: "Mom, NASA just called. They need an expert. I am going to space Momma!..." Mom: "Oh Darling! I never knew you would succeed like this.. Your father will be so proud! What...what time is it? 2 o'clock?">BR> *rustling covers* *wierd pause* Space? I thought you were happy bagging groceries... Me: "Well they needed an expert. That's what us experts do. I just got a call on the emergency line. I am gonna have step up training, and need to get started. Tell Dad I love him Mah. Tell dad I love him. If I don't make it.. you can have the cats..."
Mom:" What will you be doing again?"
There are a few out there that have been restored. The bellows on many are brittle, but most have been electrified by using a motor to supply the air, but you lose things like volume control etc, when you go electric on the old one.
To go to the factory to see how they are made. We have probably 200 piano rolls, and play them. The oldest are almost 100, and getting brittle. You have to be careful with any of them, because the sides of the roll can get crimped..
If none of you have ever seen the inside of a mechanical player piano in action, it is a thing of beauty.
On ours wooden valves (slide type) hundreds of cogs and chain driven gears etc..
We play ours a lot, and love it, and wouldn't stop playing it for anything. We feel it helps the player piano stay "young"..
You know you would think that getting linked would be a good thing as it would drive more traffic to the original sources site.....
Good lord, a vast amount of blogs out there pretty much copy/paste at will. I don't know about Fair Use, because the nature of this is commercial, but the NYT can do a good step by removing all links to the offended organization, and never do them the favor of driving traffic to them again.
Sorry. Read that as "Novell Algae Fuel Farming Gets Big Backing" and thought it a good question to ask if it ran Linux.

Whatever happened to improvisational near real time performances in the public domain.. rotfl.
Well anyway if someone wants a recording of the bad storms that rolled through here about 3 hours ago with some guitar recorded live.. here it is.

Like the universe..the net has a lot of alternatives, and not just mine. Stop being force-fed what you like.
You must doubt they would do that if they thought it would work.. Call me stupid? Let's see what happens..

Hope they paint everything blue..
They say the new carbon could conduct electricity like a metal. Heck, whadda I know.. :)

It used to be fun to fly, not any more.
This PRT stuff won't fly, and besides I already have my PRT shown in the link above!
I don't mind hybrids, but pure electric would be fun, and also don't forget biobutanol, and biogasoline as drop in replacements for dino-juice.
Maybe one day.
Patent Applied For. :P

This is our model here in the image ...
And it works great, has a home, and isn't going to be thrown out anytime soon!
