It's usually a bit more difficult if a hidden trojan is installing the toolbar for you. I've seen some trojans than require killbox and then removal of the power lead since the registry entries reinitialize upon logoff and shutdown. this was a couple of years ago, i imagine they are even worse now.
i almost didn't believe you...but it's true: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unr-meta/+bug/443298
however i will be upgrading to karmic after (release date + 1 month) to take advantage of the improved intel graphics drivers and full screen flash without flicker (at least when i try the karmic livecd it works well)
Nobody ever mentions Sky+ box (owned by rupert murdoch - probably at least a million of them in the UK) but I'm pretty sure that (1) it is built on linux (2) the community would benefit from some mods they do
Remember that Asus achieved a large success in the netbook market by releasing the eee before everyone else got their act together. If Dell could do the same, they could gain another reasonably large untapped market
i would also recommend the marriage book by nicky and sila lee.
also find out what your love languages are [5 love languages] (gifts, physical, task oriented, etc) as they help you to understand why different people express love in different ways
skype: In non-NATted environments like Universities, skype clients can become supernodes and consume huge amounts of bandwidth.
gmail: a large amount of sensitive documents should never leave the premises. google should not be storing your sensitive data
i've tried
xandros->eeebuntu->ubuntu->debian (which worked well OOTB)
now i'm on cruncheee, which also works well out of the box on my eee 701, except i experience the same firefox lag that i also experienced with ubuntu. (debian didn't noticeably have this problem but i wanted to try openbox and cruncheee was just a iso file away -home dir on my SD card.)
My experience of using Ubuntu via wubi (i.e.a file image stored on an NTFS disk) is that the performance is hit severly by the ntfs-3g process.
Run top while performing mild disk activity and you'll see what i mean.
If you use it regularly you might want to use dual boot instead.
i'm using crunchbang which is based on ubuntu on my eee 701. liking the openbox interface, dark theme and small borders. there's a special version called cruncheee for eee.

It refers to the Chrome browser, not the OS
Thanks for the info, I stand corrected.

you forgot the iphone crash that doesn't respond to the power button 5 seconds trick.
and what happened to those billions of pounds raised by selling off the 3g spectrum? did it all go on MPs expenses?
I have found with Gnome though at least, that you can't push a window up past the top of the screen, which has on one ..
there is a way you can turn this off with a simple gconf command check the http://wiki.eeeuser.com/ for details
also try backtrack live cd, or deft or helix for forensics

i know you asked about debian, but this is my reason in ubuntu : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/44989
