Amen to this. Senior right now taking AP Physics as part of a selective engineering program (taught by a former nuclear engineer) and the normal high school physics I took last year was a joke.
It was taught by a teacher that wasn't actually certified to teach the course by New York State. She was an Earth Science teacher and I remember taking the course freshman year when we learned about the background radiation of the universe I referred to it as the CMB on a test and then had to explain to her the next day or whatever that that's what the radiation is called because she had no idea what it really was.

The only other one I know is that of a doughnut. Not as easy to imagine expanding but it's a cool thing to think about.
I asked about this (well really it was my mom because she dealt with financial aid for my brother that went to Fordham) and the guy said that as a rule of thumb they tell kids to expect whatever they get freshman year for all 4 years. The only way this will change is if there is a large change in income for the family or something.
For an aero major at most schools getting a mechanical dual major is like 2 extra classes that's why I plan to do it. Thanks for the advice though, I will definitely ask around in the industry on whether they try to hire kids with masters degrees.
I don't know if you'll see this since you posted AC but what didn't you like about the school? I've visited several times because its like 45 minutes away and each visit left me with a good impression but I know the tour guides are a self selected group that like the school.
I think that sentence came out wrong. When I said social life wasn't an important factor I meant that I know whatever school I go to will have a terrible male/female ratio but it won't matter because there will always be another college 20 minutes away or something. And I think I have pretty good social skills and have never had trouble making friends so I'll be able to find my niche anywhere and I don't want a school that's known for partying because every school has parties, I want a school where the student population cares about learning. Thanks for the advice though!
So you know that it won't work but have to avoid feeling powerless to threat of freedom of expression of children? As a high school senior I'm offended. First of all kids will just use private email, or facebook, or something else to do everything you're trying to prevent. Also they will get around the filter like it's nothing, you wasted taxpayer money making this list, why don't you stop now and get rid of it. Then fight the state law on grounds of unconstitutionality if the issue gets pressed. That would set a good example for the students in your school district, fight for the preservation of rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
Right because they aren't people too? I'm entering my senior year of high school and there are definitely teachers I would go on a ski trip with or something, some teachers are cool.
I'm entering my final year of high school and my goal is to work at SpaceX after college. Could you send me your email to ctownskier@gmail.com so I could ask you for some advice?
It has to create an abort system, their plan is to load it will small thrusters on the capsule that will engage and take it away from the rocket. This system will work at any point in launch and will also serve as a landing method for the moon and maybe Mars.
Let's say it's ten years from now and there's a drought, nobody has any money, people are starving, so 100 guys decide to take their hunting rifles and march on the steps of congress demanding relief. Obviously the National guard is going to be called to maintain order. If the situation gets messy and the armed protestors start shooting windows of Congress (note they are not shooting at the National Guard) and some commander tells the lead platoon to start shooting into the hungry mob. Do you really think some 19 year old from Ohio is going to shoot a bunch of people that kind of remind him of his family back home?
I doubt it, I think a lot more soldiers would rather cross the line and take their m4 with them than shoot their own countrymen
Rail is great for really long distance, heavy stuff, but some of the stuff trucks ship probably wouldn't go great on rail without completely moving buildings. My dad runs a small trucking company and ships mostly stuff for the post office. Think TV guide and People magazine. He takes it from the printer (which does have rail lines going in for the fucking massive rolls of paper it uses) in upstate NY and then drives it to places like Boston and NYC delivering it right to the post office. I don't think it would be economical to put all of that on rail. Sure maybe part of that trip could be moved to rail and then the post office would send straightjobs to pick up their share of the load but that would be a big change.

Did you plan to use a ramjet or scramjet stage and how would that affect the cost?

That's assuming government spending is tied to a budget based on how much money they actually have.
On the other hand a patient you save is bound to a be a patient again later, a patient that's dead won't pay again.
Then again I want to work at SpaceX and people look at me funny when I start ranting about NASA....
I'm not gonna grab the link but go to xkcd and view the comic labeled "Purity".
I say we just dump 2 feet of snow on him, where I live that's like the perfect Christmas so he should have no problem right?
ctrl+a if you want a large list but not everything click the first in the list then hold shift and select the last in the list.

Sleep is kind of important....
If Elon loses he donates a million to a charity, if the journalist loses he donates $1,000 to the charity.
Posting from my m17x with a core i7 and the cheaper GPU (only two options, this one is still plenty for me) and it's pretty awesome.

Maybe because a laptop is designed to be mobile whereas stuff like an Xbox 360 usually has a warning about moving it while its on?

And the people driving those "bad cars" are benefiting from whatever good is being delivered.

Not if the price of gold, which has very little actual value, plummets due to high availability. Oh you were trying to make a joke.....
