Maybe where you were dial up speeds were faster buy i thought that 56k modems were fairly standard. When I had dial up back in the 90s I would get a download speed of around 5kbps (if I was lucky), multiply that by 2,592,000 (number of seconds in 30 days) and divide by 1024^2 and that comes out at just shy of 12.5GB. Even if you use the maximum capacity of the 56k modem all day every day (56/8=7kilobytes per second) that still only comes out at around 17.3GB. Not really sure why you switched unless you mean that during dial-up days you were using ISDN or whatnot.

While drinking alcohol on public transport and smoking in train stations is technically illegal, if you smoke at the far end of (overground) platforms, away from covered areas and aren't a rowdy dick on public transport then people won't say anything. If you smoke, carry an empy pack as scumbags are always asking for one. It's a lot easier to pull out an empty pack and say "sorry mate, this is my last one" than telling them to fuck off. Don't ever go to TGI Fridays or Angus Steakhouses. If you really must go to a place like that then go to Frankie & Bennie's. But don't. Only go to Camden market if you really must. It's apparently a massive tourist pull but it's only worth going to if you want (usually fake) drugs or overpriced tshirts with "witty" slogans or the name of a crap band on them. If you're skeptically inclined then you can't go far wrong with London Skeptics in the pub. It's held in a Wetherspoons pub so the drinks are reasonably priced for the location and the talks and company are of a high standard. http://london.skepticsinthepub.org/ Generally chain pubs are awful but I highly recommend vodka revolution if you see one. Of the many deli chains Eat is probably your best bet but it can be a little pricey. If you're around the Covent Garden area I highly recommend a vegetarian restaurant/cafe called Food For Thought. It gets mixed press but I find it to be cheap and the food of a decent enough quality.

Assuming that each pirated song is worth $80,000 and I can download a 4mb mp3 file every 30 seconds (I can probably download them quicker than this but let's be conservative), this means I can cause $160,000 worth of damage per minute to the music industry. This translates to $9,600,000 per hour, £230,400,000 per day. In a year this adds up to $83,950,000,000. Bear with me here people. Given that according to http://www.economywatch.com/world_economy/world-economic-indicators/world-gdp.html the Gross Product of the entire world in 2007 was $65.61 Trillion. It should only take, even if we are extremely optimistic and estimate that this has increased by a total of 10% over the past 2 years, less than 900 of us with dedicated computers to bankrupt the ENTIRE WORLD.

The one example given in TFA has now been removed, either by the author or by Facebook. It is, however, a moot point as Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 states: "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider." Therefore Facebook have no real legal responsibility to do anything about it. Facebook would be down within days if it were forced to remove every possible defamatory comment one of its users posted.

Surely "Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech". I realise that there was to violence, the guy offering $50 to anyone who punched Jack Thompson in the face isn't protected but this was removed. He could possibly argue under Gertz v. Robert Welch, Inc. 418 U.S. 323 (1974), (opinions could not be considered defamatory. It is thus permissible to suggest, for instance, that someone is a bad lawyer, but not permissible to falsely declare that the lawyer is ignorant of the law: the former constitutes a statement of values, but the latter is a statement alleging a fact.) that some of the messages posted were statements of facts but any comments about his unfitness to practise would surely be vindicated by his disbarrment anyway? Also since Facebook has no liability for comments posted on it they were going above and beyond what is required of them by law by removing even the incitement to violence. He doesn't really seem to have a leg to stand on.
