Every phone that I could use in my area is hobbled by SOB carriers who view BT as headset only, and charge for transfer of photos, ringtones and everything else.
You've got to be kidding! I have a T616 and Cingular and I use Bluetooth for transferring pictures from my phone to my Mac, MIDI files from my Mac to my phone, and synchronizing Address Book and iCal information between the two all of the time.
And I did all of that long before I got a Bluetooth headset.
How could the carrier even begin to charge for stuff like that?
I'm usually not one to complain about spelling or grammar on here. But, when you've got a sentence like "Famouse glaciologist professor Lonnie Thompson have found clues that show history repeating itself" on the front page, you can tell Slashdot has hit a new low.
Actually, you're right. Trillian has no right to interoperate with Yahoo's servers unless Yahoo gives them permission. But, that has nothing to do with Apple and Real.
Real is using an unsupported method to get their restricted songs onto the Ipod. Apple changed their firmware and it broke the method Real was using. Since this wasn't a supported method Apple has no obligation to Real or Real's customers.
And I'm glad anytime some company's DRM backfires on them.
Mac OS X bounces the icon of the loading application in the Dock until it is ready to use. It's a good indicator and isn't as annoying as it may sound.
Downloaded it, played with it, dragged it to the trash.
I use Apple Mail (Mail.app). For all the nice features in Thunderbird, it still seems to me that Pegasus has much more powerful spam filtering. And, at least for my uses, has a better user interface.
Mail is free, but not open source. I urge people to compare it to Thunderbird. I've used it since 2001 and have never found a mailer I like better.
You forgot about the fact that demand was so high for the mini that Apple could not produce enough - they've sold a shitload of these despite YOUR opinion that it's expensive.
It's not just his opinion, it's the opinion of a lot of people.
The point (that you're missing) is that it is not the opinion of enough people to matter.
They've been partners for many, many years. Long before IBM started producing the G5 for them. The G3 that Apple used in their iBooks were IBM CPUs and Apple, IBM, and Motorola were joined in the PowerPC consortia at the birth of the architecture.
Because you'd then be using Linux and Windows. *shiver*
Your write-up was interesting. The Nanode looks the nicest, while not being very practical. But, I think you're forgetting the obvious.
One can only hope.

Trillian wasn't using DRM. I have no sympathy for any organization that has their own DRM break on them. Including Apple.
That's why you can't blame Apple for this.
Late twenties. We probably just have a different standard of quality.
Practically no one even knew Sony made a hard drive for the PS2 until a few people started whining about it not working with the new slim version!
...one of the many reasons I buy Apple.
When was Sony known for quality?
Link?
And by "Google" do you mean Usenet?
If one of Sollog's most famous "math discoveries" is The Fibonacci Algorithm, then why isn't it called "The Sollog Algorithm?"

Splash screens are the work of Satan himself!
You insensitive clod, don't link to an RSS feed.

iPods have no problem coping with the shock involved when mountain biking. I know this from experience.
Apple has been an IBM/Motorola house since the foundation of PowerPC.

You'll have to start buying PowerBooks. IBM and Apple seem to be the only two companies capable of creating a quality laptop.
AAC also already supports multi-channel.
Just send in the moose!
The headphones that come with the iPod are made for people with only two ears, so I don't see the point.
