    they can't!

    ANY browser technology that segregates netizens based on applications for a piece of market share really removes themselves from what the net and 'cyberspace' mean, at least to me.

    Cyberspace being a form of communication that is ubiq, REGARDLESS of platform, or browser of choice

    {try playing a magic class in shadowrun}

    Great story/ background plot though

    go look at Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. from R. Talsorian Games
    {yes it doesnt have magic, but its easy to build in }

    usually have stipulations involved

    its their money , so they have a bit of say in what will be developed.

    this is no different than any other industry. for example the record industry grooms and prompts their artists to behave a certain way.

    Waaay back when there was this company called SGI, and they had this web based 3d plugin called cosmoplayer, later on cosmo became a whole division at SGI. Sporting amazing editors for developing 3d on the web as well as the plugin for displaying.

    You may remember the '2nd web' campaign they had

    ANYWAYS

    Admist the dot com bubble they decided to sell off this venture. CA bought it, admist promises & rumours of releasing this software open source. Alas nothing ever came to pass and that left more than a few embittered web3D developers.

    So i ask....{in two parts}
    What has ever become of this aquisition and what , if anything will ever happen with cosmo?

    i think live cd's are of great use when figuring out networks etc, b/c its very easy to reboot with the cd and get on and working on the problem
