I think you are quite ignorant of Libertarian philosophy. We advocate a return to Constitutional government, not lawless anarchy as you imply. OIf course if you are a left wing or right wing, such a return would scare the shit out of you, as there would be no more BS taxes taken from people with the threat of death or imprisonment, and the votes would stop rolling in because you could not promise the "people" anything. I spent 45 minutes carrying on a conversation with the Libertarian candidate for governor in NC this past election cycle. When as the last time you did that with a republican or democratic candidate? The last time I spoke with a candidate for the House of representatives, a republican, I got about 30 seconds. fact is that Libertarian policy requires people to be responsible for themselves, and take ownership of their decisions, good or bad, and that scares the shit out of the left wing and right wing, because with that, they are unable to scare, threaten and bribe the "people" into voting for them. But YMMV, and good luck with you in the upcoming freefall of the US dollar, as inflation and hyper-inflation is right around the corner. And if you doubt that, look at the market data for annuities, it is enough to make you wish you owned gold.

What police can do is much different than what private citizens can do and what is admissible if found by a citizen will often not be admissible if found by a cop. That is to prevent abuse of police power, which IMNSHO, is a very good thing. If you invite me into your house and I look in your closet and see the pot growing rig, you can be sent to jail, fined whatever. However if a cop comes into you house upon your invitation, he can not legally look through your stuff, it has to be in plain sight. And for the record, if you have child porn and are stupid enough to take the computer to a tech service to be fixed outside your direct observation, then you are an idiot and need to be locked up for your own safety, much less that of the children.

That kind of behavior, IMNSHO, is disgusting and perverted. It outrages me far more than crimes against people, as people at least have the theoretical ability to protect themselves. Cats and dogs have been specifically bred to consider humans as "safe".

When I ran an HVAC/R company, I did not charge for emergency (after hours) calls, unlike every other company in town did. And my logic was very simple. When I advertise an after hours service and set a price for the service, I am saying I am willing to come (or send a tech) at any time and fix your HVAC/R problem. I never liked working after hours when i worked for other companies, and never knew a tech that liked it either. So with my business, there would be no charge for emergency calls. That way I got to define what was an emergency, not the customer. Probably lost a customer or two over the years, but the customers I gained and kept from this policy more than made up for those losses. Nothing like a customer who you just fixed their equipment at 2AM on a Sunday morning and charged them the same if it had been 9AM on Monday morning. It engendered a lot of customer loyalty and referrals.
