Yes, this is industry wide, you don't know how many parts I've had fail because of this lead-free solder crap.

I had a laptop that died because of an nVidia card with the same problems. Tried to reflow it, but it wouldn't fix it permanently. There was a class action suit against nVidia due to this, you can look it up. This effected dozens if not more laptop manufacturers and models spanning a couple years worth of products.

I had a part in my car, where I had to reflow/resolder a sensor due to a very common failure of a solder joint on the sensor.

I've had to replace my original PS3 due to this problem, the GPU failed and cooked due to bad solder... and my second one, I've had to take extreme care of it to keep it from happening (ie: extreme heat reducing modifications). Probably still will fail over time again, but who knows when.

The PS3 and XBox world have suffered greatly over this problem, that the term "Red Ring of Death" (XBox) and the "Yellow Light of Death" (PS3) have been forever immortalized in gamer forums and youtube. There are businesses setup to do nothing but fix, reflow, and re-ball these things...

ALL due to faulty lead-free solder. So thanks to the EPA, we are all getting defective electronics, that break early, and have a shorter lifespan than normal. Costing consumers mega $$$'s in the long run.

How about the left-leaning independents (that vote D), start doing the same, and kick these large/big government, nanny state, we-know-what's-better, who cares about the constitution, PROGRESSIVES/COMMUNISTS out of the Democratic Party. Then we might get somewhere better than where we are at now. The problem right now, is that both parties have been infiltrated by a group of people who think the same, want the same, but pretend to be on opposite sides of issues to keep up a ruse to the people. The only difference I see, is that the Right realizes this, and is trying to get this group out of the Republican party, while the Left isn't doing anything in that manner. The Left is only starting to see the problem, and even half of them are blind to it, because they are "high" on government hand-outs and benefits that they don't want the system to change.

My job is actually programming home and business A/V and environment control systems for a living. While it won't be the cheapest option, if you want the best, go with one of the 2 biggest and most reputable manufacturers out there: Crestron Electronics -or- AMX. These are the systems that the big luxury homes/mansions get. Crestron -> http://www.crestron.com/ AMX -> http://www.amx.com/ Both manufacturers make wide assortment of proprietary touch panels, keypads, and central control processors for every possible scenario. Both are networkable, and can control anything that is IP / Serial / IR / Relay / or Voltage controllable. They are completely customizable, and do just about anything you want them to do. Each program that is written for these are usually unique to the system and clients desires of what they want. The downside to these options, is they don't come pre-programmed, and you can't get your hands on the delevopment suite without being a dealer. The reason is, these are not just setup/configured like other options out there, they are complete embedded platforms that require programming to get them to do things. Same with the touch screen interfaces, you actually have to design/build the GUI front end, and can make it look and work how ever you want. The other advantage, is they can work and control anything you want to throw at them, but they also make lines of audio/video devices that are suited to doing things like whole-home audio distribution, or whole-home video distribution. They make everything from their own pre-amps, surround sound devices, to HD video matrix routers for routing sources around the house. For the best of the best, these two manufacturers are the cream of the crop. (notice: I do not work for either of these two manufacturers, but I have programmed both of them for 14 years, and run my own programming contract business by providing programming for these system. )

They are ALREADY doing this! It's call QE2 or "Quantative Easing", and the Federal Reserve has been doing it in stages for a year or more. They are printing money to pay their own debts, which makes our money worth less with every dollar they print. Thus, a "Hidden Tax" if you will. They can only do this so much until our money is actually "worth-less", so that idea wont work out very well either. I agree with the flat rate federal sales tax, and completely eliminate income taxes. The rich people who flaunt their money by buying jets and boats and houses all over the place will pay more in sales tax using this method over say, the "poor underclass blue coller worker" that doesn't buy all the unnecessary toys and such. The rich person that doesn't spend their money, doesn't pay much since they aren't using their money to buy stuff. The major advantage to this, is that there are no loopholes for anyone, so even illegal aliens would pay tax when they purchased things whether their income is reported or not, so 15million people don't get of taxes this way. and it gives a bigger base of payers, even if most pay only a small amount. I've read a report that said that income tax could be eliminated and still fund our current sized government with only a 23% sales tax. Sounds like a lot at first glance, but that's because everyone is used to already having income tax. Income tax, however, is many time higher than this, many time above 30% of gross income. So, in the end, many people would pay less tax than they do now, and those people who are poor or frugal, won't pay as much because they don't spend as much.

I agree with you on this point about the employers as well. There does need to be steep consequences, whether big fines, or jail. I can't argue with that. But the fact remains that I'm still a proponent of the new Arizona law, because it needs to be a double pronged approach. Why? Because not everyone that hires illegals are "big evil" corporations that you can raid with federal agents. It doesn't take a genius to realize, that if you drive down the average middle-class to affluent residential neighborhood, that many of the illegals that are working illegally, are doing so for individuals, whether handyman type work, or landscaping type work. Maybe steep fines and jail would help in this problem too... turn in your neighbor for hiring an illegal for landscaping, and they get a big-ass fine that costs more than they ever could have saved by using legit landscapers, and the illegal alien can be arrested and deported as well. Both problems solved, the illegal alien isn't here anymore, and the person 'creating the demand' learned their lesson and now checks references and gets their landscapers from the yellow pages and makes sure they have a business licence, etc. Supply gone... and Demand gone... That's good!

I do understand the legal logic of requiring car insurance. However, you, I, and everyone else who drives, also has the choice to drive or take other means of transportation that doesn't require car insurance. You are only required to buy it, if you decide for yourself that you want/need to drive. That is not an option with mandated healthcare. As for having money set aside for unforseen health risks... YES, you should have some money set aside for unforseen events of any kind, including medical emergency. If you're not wealthy, and don't have a large enough sum to make you feel safe, then you have the OPTION to buy insurance for this. It doesn't matter if your employer offers it or not, you can still obtain it. Do you have to pay for it out of your own pocket? Yep, you bet. I'm self employed, and I obtain a personal plan for me an my family at an outrageous price, but it's cheaper than paying the bills if something bad happens. Is it hard to pay that much, yep. Does it effect my lifestyle? Yep, I pay almost as much for medical coverage as my mortgage payment. Do I have to sacrafice in other areas of my life to afford this on my own? Yes I do. Health Ins. to me and my family is more important than a bigger house, or a nicer car, or cell phones for everyone in the house, etc. The problem is too many people in this country think they are ENTITLED to everything. If someone who does not have health insurance wants it, they should decide how important it really is to them and decide what they need to sacrafice to afford it. This viewpoint may seem harsh to Communists (read Progressives), but this is what Freedom and Liberty are all about. Your decision to decide your own priorities in life is freedom. Too many people screw up their priorities in life and want other to pay for their mistakes.
