Well, you (and others) can sing his praises. I just don't see it - i see an idiot. Someone is so old so he has learned all the things in the army apparently - but brilliant at combact tactics? Yeah right - i doubt they have ever even once done what a reall military team would have done.
However, remember that id Software took out the need to authenticate Quake 3 in a patch once the retail effectiveness of that game was done. I'm sure that Valve will do the same -
I don't - that would require morals.
especially if VUG pulls something. Valve will probably do a "FU VUG" patch at some point.
fu vug meaning?
Plus, with the mint they make off of this game, they can keep activation servers around forever...
Which they won't of course, aftre all you haven't bought a game you have bought the right to license a cd key for a while.
Here its just one DVD disk... which is of course a problem since it requires you keep it inserted, so if one were to make an image to keep on the harddrive we are pusing 9GB for a stupid game...
Is this what I have to look forward to? Buying a game and being able to maybe play it from time to time, whenever their servers happen to be up and not too terribly busy? Way to go, guys.
Yep - that is what you have to look forward too - the greedy imorals of the industry will just continute to foist this kind of big brother software on us.
And to add further insult to injury you on top of this spyware crap you still need to have the disc in the drive! Incompetent morons
Anyone who thinks the levels in Doom 3 were "slapped together" to show off the engine should spend a little time designing levels. The general design, lighting, sound design (which was surprisngly important for some levels), and all around attention to detail in Doom 3 was very impressive. Whether you were a fan of the gameplay or not, you would be a fool to claim the levels were "thrown together".
Ok, lets rephrase it then: They just looked like they were thrown together.
Well good for you - i hate torrents - because that crap doesn't seem to take into consideration that may of us have much faster download than upload and it simply chokes the connection.
Just took one and half day to get the wow beta, where i could have gotten it in two hours from website (assuming it could keep up)
I know i know, it lessens the burden on the website - but that doesn't mean i have to like it.
Yes, but they didn't say it for Firefly. Because what you set out to do from day one is what you get from day one. It seems most american programming starts by making something as bland as possible and then try and measure what the audience (if any) will like and change it towards that.
As opposed to Joss Whedon who's motto not give people what they want, but what they need.
(Don't forget his first feature movie, april 22 2005)
This is why im really happy about the Battlestar galactica series comming this new year... Gritty, realistic, and hopefully... above all else... not more episodal space opera campy bullsh*t.
It will be, Moore has said that it is essentially one 13 story arch (the season only has 13 episodes, because they are expensive and they aren't taking any more chances until they know it has large following)
AFAIK, it was never supposed to exist past its 7th season
It was supposed to end after the 6th season - but the ratings were so god the decided to continue. THen it was season seven which was supposed to be the last, then season 8 - now season 9...
SG-1 and SG:A were never meant to coexist, also why Atlantis was moved to another galaxy. The creators/writers never meant for them to show at the same time and they didn't want the easy way out whenever SG:A had a problem and just get SG-1 to fix it.
That's just an admission of incompetence. There should be no problem with a bit of creativity. Stargate should be an easy show to write for. Now Firefly - that would be hard, i don't know that i could do that - but Stargate - easily, half asleep.
Valve's way of selling products works like this: they hand out the game content freely: they even FOR FREE distribute it and other free stuff over Steam.
FOr free?! WOW! Aren't those guys just wonderfull human beings - it almost brings a tear to your eye.
You can copy and burn and move it around from computer to computer, whatever, to your heart's content.
Yeah, copy useless dead weight.
but I don't see the master/slave thing being fair.
Well I do.
I see it as a neat advance over the way other companies distribute and authenticate content.
Well good for you - is see it as invasive big brother maneuvering. I pay, it should work forever none of their online slave check shit.
Obviously things are being done to help alleviate the feeling of sameness and repetition, but it is unavoidably still there, since there are really only five or six common missions.
He wasn't just talking about the nature of missions, but that many run completely OUT of mission. Your contacts tell you come back in a couple of levels, and when you finally they do, the often say "well actually, come back in another level!" instead of giving you a mission!
And there is no good excuse for this, just recycle the old ones for christ sake.
Many people constantly run out of missions, and have to slave away (or being forced to group) to get one or two levels before they can get new missions?
(Before some slashdotter asks 'why join a multiplayer game if you don't want to multiplay' for many reasons a lot of people are not there to multiplay but to be a hero - if they made a standalone version of the game people would probably have bought that instead)
What does CHA-CHING mean?
Duh - *PLUS* the install directory.

Disc 4? Disc 5?
... which is of course a problem since it requires you keep it inserted, so if one were to make an image to keep on the harddrive we are pusing 9GB for a stupid game...
Interesting - how many disk is it on?
Here its just one DVD disk

10 years from now when their immoral activation grap has gone down.
I can still get my old quake cd and play that - but this stuff? I doubt it.
If the law allows me to do so i wish they go out of business if it doesn't i wish them... something else.
Pulled it down from the torrent in seconds.

stereotypical, cookie cutter, typecasts

My problem is that Jack is too much an idiot, even when its a quit simple explanation he doesn't understand anything.
That's not what they said
Yes it was. If you only wanted to play offline you did would not be required to go online.
But apparently you don't know when they changed the tune.
So the message to the world then is: "Don't buy it until there is a crack" - Check.
Yeah right, and how may get their key stolen? 1 or 2 fools who install warez.
On the other hand nobody can play the game the bought when the severs go down in a few years.
Its disgusting.
God I hate the mall...
;o)
Not a girl, eh?
This particular situation sucks,
Not just this situation.

*sigh*
Ok, let me rephrase it: They always said that it wasn't necessary to go online at all if you didn't want to play online.
So when did they change this?
You decide with your wallet ( i know what i believe)
But by the time you're level 30 and you've played the game for a couple of months, you really start to want MORE.
Yes MORE missions - MORE exp. Thank you.
Try not. Do or do not, there is no try.

*DR* Spock? The famous pediatrician? Wow, he sounds a lot like that Vulcan guy from Startrek.
I can answer that for you: Nothing ;)

Face it, this should be a game for people WITH a life - its not Everquest ;)
