Lazy programmers won't use the profile directory, or (in the case of C&C generals, dump stuff into My Documents instead of the Application Settings directory)
And hurrah for them, much better to copy the savegames from the application directory than having to dig them out of the my documents crap.
My vote for Best Mod would be the one that lets me play UT without requiring Power User or Administrator access on XP or Win2K. That way I could set up an internet cafe / LAN party place without having to worry if the customers wreck the machines.
Perhaps they did that on purpose - remember they don't want you to play it on internet cafes without paying biiiiiig license fees.

Except it blacken a bit, but it doesn't break down, hell there are no dents. Some realism.
You don't have to rebind to get the console, there is another command - which name escapes me at the moment, its something like com_allowconsole - its currently 0 but if you set it to 1 the console is back to the more normal key location.
And i say location, Because just like the gameplay is still in the darkages, their keymapping is as well. To get the console where the ~ is located on John Carmacks keyboard, not where its actually located;)
Who cares? The "old" Quake 3 engine still looks great (I've been playing RTCW on Linux lately), and it's smooth. I don't give a crap about super-spiffy graphics
"looks great" is of course fairly subjective, but i think Q3 looks better than D3 which is mostly drab gray on gray in darkness. I want fun gameplay.
No more problem with doping then. They use it anyway, so LET THEM - its not as if these athletes have much in common formwise with ordinary people anyway so let them go the whole nine yards, shoot themselves full of stuff and see who mixes the best batch. And the excitement is back! Who can create the best superman - place your bets gentlemen (and nerds)!

There was nothing scary about the firt Doom, the graphics were so bad that it didn't matter
I actually prefer the graphics of the first doom - they were kinda cozy.
