As well ass many people get fired for not being able to support it. You ever seen what happends when 2 synch'd exchange servers go down due to a stupid vbs attack.
I'm a tech savy fellow, non-luddite, watch all the movies I can. I let my cable run out in jan, and procrastinated (sp?) getting it turned back on, 6 months later, I still can't be bothered. I get 3 channels, and the quality of programming is no worse then when i had 50.

Feh.
I think it's easy enough to write readable code in perl, the great thing is that you have the option of writing horribly unreadable code to do in 3 lines what it would otherwise take 10 to do.

Nonsense.
Would you say " quick way to write one-off scripts to do quick repetitive jobs" Accurately describes the slashdot application?
I suppose it's only a 'real' language if you have to compile it? I'll never understand that mentality.
Whats up with all the broken links, I think 3 have been posted to the fron t page in the last 2 days!

I think your missing a lot of the point that what you decide is unimportant and discard is the problem.
When looking back we are not only interested in the big important decisions, but in the everday correspondance of normal people (how many letters from john to jane from 1850 are there) and this is preciseley the stuff we will destroy.
And now with most casual email being from company accounts, they will dissapear to, leaving nothing.
Totally.
do you know if we can configure the pie menu? I would like a properties on there for links and images.

Yep, I logged it as a bug yesterday, I imagine it's been reported before though.
Man, people are always going on about this.
it doesn't make a better game on its own, but it does allow the designers the freedom to make a better game.
blah blah, I'm still playin nightStalker on the Intellivision, like Doom3 could top that.

While Dasher is definately very cool, this is another dupe story.

I don't think listing dupes is flamebait either, but mod me down if you must.
dupe of slashdot article
Still a good story though.
Sure, but your not the person they are worried about.
Laptops are stolen for corporate espionage regularly.
This isn't designed to keep it from being stolen, just to make sure you don't get the info as well as the hardware.
If you've ever had your laptop (business laptop that is) stolen, you know the data is worth MUCH more than the hardware.
Hey ho!
heres that article Tree Fort Mech

That's interesting, our OWA won't even let us connect with Mozilla.

I think it would be great if people started trying to do stage versions of popular anime.

Ah, seems to be a mozilla 1.1a bug, there's a raft of bugs about it.
I dig the mozilla bug that makes text overlap sometimes. Happening in this story for example.
Noice.
if the bottom part had a rim style keyboard I'd be all into that.

I don't understand why all of these articles that say things like
"not for the beginner"
or
"designed for the tech savvy"
what the hell? Start->progs->mozilla, your running.. is it somehow easier to type in www.lamesite.com into ie than mozilla?
Sure, but when was the last time a Gas Station had 30,000 credit card receipts in that shoe box.
It's economies of scale here, the threat is higher because the exposure is higher.

That is such an obvious fake, if it's real, why, I'll eat my hat. Eat my hat I will.
Gobe totally fell down on importing a word doc with tables, didn't even get the data, just ignored the entire table.
your line of site is definately better on a hill, I'm not sure about the archers range though.
There is day and night, which affect visibility, which is cool.
I tried it a couple times, I found it to be a pig of an app.
And when trying to bust into an established field, doing a completely unheard of interface is a bad idea.
