The boat is towed along behind the jetpack, so the range is correct, if you are only flying above water :)Which limits the practicality in my mind. If however they can engineer them to work underwater, with a longer hose like those used on old diving suits, then I can see this having a purpose, i.e faster descent times and time spent examining shipwrecks etc.

I agree with the previous post in thier definition of defamation although I am not a lawyer. Brings to mind a case in Australia, a man was named by a police as prime and only suspect, no charges have yet been laid, mainly because the man is sueing on defamation grounds, police can't use thier evidence because any evidence they bring forward cant be used in a criminal case, Essentially, for the police to win the civil case they need to prove the man guilty, which would then mean they cant prove him guilty in a criminal court.

On the topic, anything that ruins the final movie sequence ruins the plot for me,

An earlier poster mentioned it but how about geothermal energy? Use the latent heat stored in the Earth to boil water to drive a turbine. The water is forced down into the Earth's crust where heat trapped millenia ago boils the water. This technology is under serious consideration for the central part of Australia, and I can think of places in America where it is viable as well. As for the copper coils used in converting the power one of the main areas of research today in the field of power generation is a superconductor which would mean less copper and more power from all existing technologies
